Donna, you're ignorant if you think any Christians are gonna read that and stop their children from reading Harry Potter. There are already Bible-beating fundies who condemn Harry Potter. The Christians who have heard this million times and just ignore it as extremist nonsense will just keep on ignoring it.
I agree there is some truth to the statement. If you're Christian and want to raise your kids Christians, they shouldn't be reading fantasies about witchcraft. That's a no-brainer.
As a non-Christian I think they're silly to get stirred about it though.

So reading about a vengeful God who smites people is in no way scary to a kid? Or how about a God who talked to people and told them what to say. The bible stories are just as fantastical and more brutal. I would think you would raise your kid to know fantasy from reality.
This is a different lane than your other post. Would you like to debate whether Christianity and religion is stupid as a whole or whether allowing your kids to indulge in media the Bible condemns as witchcraft is against its teachings? They're separate discussions. -

I am not going to say any ones beliefs are stupid. As i said in my other post there are more important things going on in the world then to worry about a made up story.
Semantics. -

No, I wouldn't let my kid watch slasher films either and if I was Christian I wouldn't allow Hollywood to mesmermize them with stories about witchcraft. The Bible is very clear about it. I'm not Christian and I suspect you are not either. But if you believe the Bible is the word of god it clearly condemns it.

No one is advocating witchcraft. That is where this whole debate falls apart. I don't see the Author telling anyone to do it or worship the devil. It is a fantasy novel and nothing else. I think there are more important things in the world going on to be upset about then a made up story.
What about movies which glorifying adultery? There are plenty of those. Should Christian kids be indoctrinated by Hollywood that adultery is sexy and glamorous? Media has a strong influence on viewers. I wouldn't let my kids watch homophobic trash. And I don't expect Christians to let their kids watch movies which glamorize adultery and sorcery.

If your kids are looking up to movies and the people in them for guidance that is a problem and the fault of the parents. You should be their heroes and teach them who the real heroes are out in the world. Your question has nothing to do with religion. It is a people thing no matter what God we do or don't believe in.

In the long run it would serve you well to not make assumptions about people and act like a condescending twat. Go peddle your b.s. somewhere else.
See? You've already taken my advice and are now doling out a helping of your own. At this rate you'll be thinking for yourself in no time.
