Dylan doesn't live in the real world. H's been permanently on tour for about 30 years. Busy fellow.
For all the criticism the little white wonder is getting over this it should be remembered that he didn't seek out this award and probably doesn't give a toss about it. -

Good for him.
Smart people do things that they enjoy doing, not for the awards, but simply because they enjoy it.
Some people might think Dylan has a massive ego because he doesn't care. I would argue that he's not ego driven and that's why the award means nothing to him.
They're probably upset because if people don't give a crap about the prestige of their award they're also not giving a crap about the bloated egos of the people who think they're so important that they decide who deserves awards.
'Stop what your doing and come accept this award, we have deemed you are worthy'.
Maybe they should just give themselves awards?
IMO the Nobel Academy should look in the mirror if they want to see impolite and arrogant. -

I really couldn't care less. I've never understood the prestige of the Nobel prizes, which is entirely founded on the people they are AWARDED TO, not the people who award them.
If they begin giving them to the likes of Mr Zimmermann, real literary artists will be boycotting them, I hope.

I have even more respect for him now. He's a multimillionaire and the Nobel brand has been so tarnished lately with their political pandering. Why should he give a crap about some loser Swedes and their rinky dink prize?
