I'm so excited!

I'm getting some black curtains for my master bedroom. They're the type that help with "soundproofing" or at least help to mitigate sounds from the outdoors. I live in the hicks so it's not like I've got to worry about city traffic, trains and the airport. But I'm hoping that it will maybe mellow out those noises when the putzes on the street behind me start setting off their fireworks or shooting their fireworks at 9:00pm in the friggin' evening, causing my doggo to squeeze himself underneath the chair or dresser in here.
Another neat thing about these curtains is that they have a second backing which further blocks out sunlight, keeping it nice and dark for my vampyre eyes! As it is, I do all I can to keep my room as dark as possible.
Now for the best of all: They're on sale for $19 a pair.
At that price, I figure, if it works, great, that's a bargain. And if they don't work, well, it's $19 which is better than spending $300 on a pair of curtains.
I mention $300/pair because my mother sold me a pair of her 2nd hand curtains for $300 because she was redecorating. Not even a discount for her daughter….but that's another story.

That's what I was thinking too. I mean, if I had a daughter, and she moving into a new apartment, and I had these curtains I was going to just get rid of anyway, why the hell would she charge me, much less full price? I felt so hurt, and frankly, I felt silly because at the time, I didn't stand up for myself and just figured, she's my mother, she's telling me she wants $300 for those curtains (it was 2 sheer print panels at that!), I just did it.
Now, where I am in my life, I would have just said,…………………………………………………..NO!
And leave it at that. What mother does that to their kid, hmm? Too weird.

This was about 12 years ago, and at the time, first I assumed she'd give them to me when she said she had curtains for the new apartment.
Then she told me, "that'll be $300.00. These are very expensive curtains." For her and her husband everything revolved around how much stuff costs. They always had to brag about how much whatever they bought just cost, how much their new bathroom costs, what their clothing costs, their furniture or jewelry costs, you name it. They based everything on what they could brag to others about spending.
At the time, I sort of felt obligated because I already told her I'd take them (sight unseen, which was beyond stupid) and caught off guard at $300, and then when I saw them when she brought them, I figured they'd be tapestry for that price, but they were printed SHEER panels!!
I made a very stupid decision and nowadays I would have told her absolutely no damn way.
I still can't believe those sheers cost that, that ANYONE would pay that, AND I still can't believe my own mother charged me that. She's done that in the past as well when I was moving into an apartment, saying, 'Oh I have a lamp you'd like' (and we have NOTHING in common, our taste is opposite to put it lightly), I'd say, "sure" thinking I could use stuff for a new apartment, and then she'd charge me. It took me a while to learn what a lecherous person she was for the purpose of bragging about prices, much less make a big deal of it to me.

I'm not a mother, but I wouldn't even do that to a friend. I give gifts to friends all the time, just because I want to. But sheesh, really, your own kid, you're going to charged for curtains you're going to throw away anyway? Seriously? I understand she paid for them and all that, but I guess I just think it was a dick move.

I like to keep a dark room as well. Would you happen to have a link for these curtains? Send by PM please! Thank you, kindly.
