But seriously, you can crawl to a sofa or chair, turn sideways on it, then stretch your legs outward pulling yourself up onto the sofa.
Take a cue from a WWII veteran:
Our father (almost 80) tripped over his office chair with his damaged leg.
He broke his hip and crawled on his chest to the phone, pulling it towards him by the cord to call an ambulance.
Of course, we were all shocked at first.
And then came the usual dubious jokes:
"Father, you don't have to relive now your entire youth."

Most people today don't have corded phones anymore.
Landline phone –> Cordless phone –> Charging station for cordless phone with cable/cord.
Most people here still have a landline phone.
