Well, I'm not writing a manifesto on here.
I provided into ideas and said in my first post, I would explain what to do.
However, doing something is way better than nothing.
Many addicts are perfectionists as are many fat people and slobs.
They will not start something because they are concerned about nothing doing it "right" and so they never do anything.
NO ONE taught me to workout and I literally figured it out by eyeballing things in the gym. Then, I bought books, then the internet became functional, and I found out about that. I bought college nutrition books and studied those.
So, I starting out "not doing it right" and now am stronger and fitter than 99.9% of people my age.
That's how you do almost anything, you don't wait, you do.

Teaching yourself to do things means you are invested in it and know it from the ground up.
If you expect others to hold your hand and know things for you, you won't be expert at it.
I taught myself how to paint and I'm a good painter.
I taught myself well beyond what I learned in school regarding psychology and I'm one of the most knowledgeable people you could ever meet.
I have very good accomplishments in fitness, art, and my career.
            What are you good at?

You don't want pain while lifting.
You should feel in burning and stress.
Lifting to me can feel sort of like having an orgasm. It's a massive surge of feeling and then you need to get away from it.
This is why lifters grunt and stuff in the gym. It's like "Holy ****!" on your last rep and you need to stop and rest a bit before continuing.
If you feel stabbing pain you are getting hurt.

Oh god…I'm glad I missed it.
But, once you get conditioned, it will be an endorphin rush like that.
Last year I had a horrible wound in my leg. It hurt so badly that walking was like a monumental task. But when I was at the gym just lifting created an opiate level pain killing effect in my body. So, my wound barely hurt.
A few hours after the gym it would start again.
That's a side benefit of lifting, you get high from it.
But, any sign of STABBING PAIN and you should immediately stop. That a tear and you need to let it get better.

You can get pretty fit/strong/lean working out at home with a good routine. If you're looking to bodybuild, it's probably better to go to a gym.
