But not everyone with those beliefs are assholes. Yeah, some christians or ghost-believers are dicks, I give you that. However, same can be said about atheist and those who don't believe in anything paranormal.
You see, I used to not believe in ghosts lr god or anything, and I'm still, to this day, not religious. Nevertheless,I've had a philosophy teacher in university who said things that really made me rethink things. I was a total atheist for years, now I'm more of into agnosticism.
The whole point is: we can't prove that god or ghosts exist… but we can't prove that they don't neither. That's the whole thing. So many people use science as a tool to define the ultimate truth and say that anything that can't be explained by science is fantasy. So then they feel the need to be assholes about it. The problem is: it's bullshit, not everything can be proved or explained with science. Saying this is just as ignorant as saying otherwise.
I don't trash science, I'm actually so greatful that mankind practiced it for centuries and evolved as a specy. I simply say that even science has its limits.

I think that the line gets drawn on the insistence of any belief, and the ramifications thereof, over those who don't share that belief.
It doesn't matter if it is the provable or faith based. Assholes who exert authority over others deserve to be taken down a peg or two and it provides entertainment for onlookers.
Street preachers deserve to be ridden out of town regardless of what they are preaching.

Ah man I don't know if you used to be on Imdb's message boards, but I remember this retarded religious guy with a signature like: "Gays are not to be hated, gay agenda is."
He would say SO MUCH horseshit and wouldn't even realize how ironic and moronic it was. I remember him saying in the same paragraph these two completely contradictory statements: 1: "I say we should accepts homosexuals." And then later: 2: "I don't think we should tolerate the fact that we say homosexuality is normal because it's against God's will."
Seeing him being trashed by others was SO pleasant for the eyes.

Unpopular opinion: I think it's really really unlikely that aliens don't exist. In a supposedly infinite universe we are the only developed life form? Yeah, sorry, don't think so. They actually discovered many planets which have an ecosystem really similar to Earth and can really possibly have life on them.
The other question is: Have they ever visited us? Here I can understand how we can doubt it, I do as well.
