"No Fakes"
Wolf roamed through the City Center escorted by Police
Two wolf sightings were documented in Lüdenscheid [
71,000 inhabitants
] in one night.
The police escorted the wolf out of the city center.
The police patrol followed the wolf along the railway station area.
….
….
The wolf initially moved across the train station area, then continued towards Heedfelder Straße and across Schättekopf onto Parkstraße. Visual contact was lost in the area of the city park.
Because both Kai Neumeier's video and two clips of the unusual police operation over the weekend circulated in various social media groups – and were sometimes labeled as AI fakes by some skeptics –
the police also issued a statement:
"We know the videos. They are not fakes."

Aside from the usual internet waves, the police remained calm.

Although no one is on the road, he doesn't follow the wolf directly and properly avoids the left bus lane.

Wolves in the National Park
Important for Nature?
Wolves are returning to Bavaria for about 10 years. The first wolf pups were born in the Bavarian Forest National Park in 2017. Since then, the wolf population grew in the border region between Bavaria and the Czech Republic. What does this mean for nature?
When wildlife ecologist Marco Heurich reviewed footage from a camera trap set up for lynx in the summer of 2015, he was surprised to find a photo of a wolf. This wolf settled in the vast area encompassing the Bavarian Forest and Šumava National Parks in the Czech Republic. After a female wolf also migrated to the area, the first wolf pups in Bavaria were born in 2017.
The newly formed family retreated to the Czech side. Further families formed from the offspring and other newly arrived wolves. 5 families, one pair and one lone wolf are currently in the area of the two national parks (2023/2024 census). Their core territories lie in Czechia, but they repeatedly venture into Bavaria.
Do Wolves play an important Role?
Marco Heurich launched a research project. The question: Do the wolves have an impact on the forest and its inhabitants? He knows from studies in Yellowstone National Park that the return of wolves had a positive effect on nature.
"It lead to more pronghorns, more grizzlies again and the forest regenerated better."
In the two national parks in Czechia and Bavaria, the largest animals (red deer) had no natural enemies until the wolves return. In the Bavarian Forest National Park alone, there are approximately 700 red deer.
The largest Animal Species
in the National Park must still be hunted.
Even though the protected area is designed to allow nature to take its course, this doesn't apply to red deer. In late autumn, they are lured into so-called winter enclosures and fed to prevent too many animals from migrating into adjacent forests. Red deer can cause considerable damage to forests, especially to young trees that are crucial for forest conversion in the face of climate change. Therefore, their population must be
"regulated"
(hunted).
Radio Collars reveal the Wolves' Whereabouts.
Czech and Bavarian scientists work closely together on this project. 11 wolves in Czechia were fitted with radio collars. The scientists can thus track their routes, which lead them to their prey. Around 360 wolf scat samples were also analyzed. The research, funded by EU grants, began 2.5 years ago. Now, initial results are available. The Bavarian wolves primarily prey on red deer. Beavers are the second most common prey, followed by wild boar and roe deer.
The red deer adapted to the predators, became more cautious, spent less time in the forest and more time in open areas. Wildlife ecologists and the directors of the two national parks view the wolves' return as a positive development for both protected areas.

What happened in Bavaria?! Usually they want to shoot all wolves.
Did NABU's Herr Tamás visit the public broadcaster and sang them
"The Watch on the Rhine"
?
(BR = Bayerischer Rundfunk = Bavarian Broadcasting)
Very nice longer video from
"Unkraut"
in the arcicle above.
It demonstrates the cooperation with the Czech foresters, who teach the Germans about the
real
wolf.
And a younger hunter was interviewed in his high seat, who has no problem with the wolves,
as there are anyhow too many deer and wild boars destroying the forests.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find the
"Unkraut"
-video on YT.
This short video
has nothing to do with it, but I somehow liked the title.

German Government plans to make it easier to shoot Wolves
The German Federal Cabinet in Berlin passed a resolution to include wolves in hunting regulations.
This would make it easier to kill

So, this needs to pass the Bundestag and Bundesrat too.

Yah, well to see the
"commotion"
in the photo (not at all).
I'm not so sure, if this is
really
a wolf.
Unfortunately, there are no children around right now.
Children are better than adults at distinguishing wolves from dogs.

Why is suddenly the nicest Wolf from France (Christmas Story) ghost-banned?
Nothing evil in it - to the contrary - and even not a long post with many formattings.
Technical problems?

Baaing Sheep Herd storms Supermarket
20 minutes of chaos at the supermarket: Dozens of sheep wander into the grocery store –
startling customers and employees with their visit.
Sheep goes shopping.

Animal visit at a supermarket in Lower Franconia: Around 50 sheep invaded a Penny discount store in Burgsinn on Monday morning while it was open for business. The sheep lingered among the shelves for about 20 minutes, bleating.
As shepherd Dieter Michler explained to the Main-Post newspaper, the group broke away from his herd shortly before. He was leading about 500 sheep along a narrow path at the edge of an industrial park when around 50 went off on their own. They lost contact with the herd and then marched across the supermarket parking lot and directly into the store.
Lured by a Shopping Bag?
What might have motivated the sheep to visit the supermarket remained unclear. The shepherd suspected that the sheep might have followed a customer with a shopping bag, hoping to find food inside.

Or the dogs were asleep when the wolf came.
And now those sheep are even worse than the notorious wild boars of Wannsee!
The wild boars at the edge of Berlin attacked unsuspecting bathers, snatched their plastic bags
and turned them into plastic schnitzel.

So again:
DO NOT FEED.

Sheep in the Supermarket

The store manager thought it was Candid Camera.
He also said that the sheep only knocked over a shelf and only stayed in the checkout area.
Otherwise, they were peaceful and hadn't eaten anything.
Now watch more closely at min 00:10 - 00:16. -

What you see in this video is exactly what you can expect should you actually encounter a wolf.
Even in the much rarer encounter with a wolf family, the same thing would happen.
Anyone who claims otherwise either has no clue or a very vivid imagination. Who meets a wolf like this:
Stay calm and let the wolf go on his way. Keep your dog close and ideally on a leash. -
