The purpose of their existence is to win a championship. They didn't do that. They failed this year.
There is gray areas in terms of failures. This wasn't as big a fail as say the Cleveland Browns' season. But, yeh, they failed.

They didn't win the Super Bowl. It was a failure.
That's an awfully high bar for such a sub-par team. Poor deluded Dallas fans have to resort to hoping they'll do better next year. They should talk to a few Carolina fans.
Why does a rough and tumble sport of men have such whiny pantywaists for fans? -

By your standards the season was a failure. You are the one who is on record saying that the goal of every team is to win the SuperBowl. Anything less than the SuperBowl is a failure. So by your definition the Cowboys season is a failure.

IMO, it's hard to Cal it a success after all the hype and trash talking done by them and some of their fans.
This makes about as much sense as it would to say the Browns season wasn't a failure because they took their losses well.
Your reasoning is faulty. Hype and trash talking have nothing to do with what you are asking about. -
