Not that it applies to your mother's situation…but the inability to learn new tasks is a significant indicator for age related cognitive issues. Be patient with her…she luvs you more than you kno

I know. I try and be as patient as possible but I do get annoyed. I also bought her a new lamp because she would drag her old lamp back and forth from her bedroom to the living room every night. Then she doesn’t want to use the new lamp and watches TV in the dark. I don’t get it.

It sounds like you do a good job truthfully.
And frustration is built right in with these things…your venting is healthy. It would seem your mother did a fine job raising you and if you are in a care taker position with her…I think she is fortunate.
Have a nice day AJ

Well maybe she could eventually get it or maybe ask if she would rather have a regular toaster. I think it sounds she’s having a hard time adjusting to it or maybe she just has her own preference. Older ppl are definitely like that tho

Why didn't you get her toaster? That probably takes up less counter space. It really hasn't anything to do with age,or resistance to change. It has more to do with knowing what one likes.
If she liked her toaster, you ought to have gotten her a better one with bigger slots for her bagle.
There is no doubt that she probably lost patience with you while trying to teach you things while growing up. No doubt she loves you though.
Give her a little time. She might look over these instructions and try out that oven because you gave it to her and she loves you.

Ok. I understand. Just give her a little time to make the adjustment. Everyone needs that when faced with something new.

Have you ever been slapped across the face?
No.
You obviously have. Hence, your animosity.
Try ignoring me if you are triggered by what I say.
