Democrats are in a terrible position for 2018 in terms of Senate. Defending way more seats. Not saying they can't pull it off, but it's difficult. I'm skeptical of them getting the House too, partly due to gerrymandering. I wouldn't be surprised if GOP controlled all branches until 2020

Actually I'd rather have Trump stick around. The next two spots in the presidential succession are worse. Pence is an even worse candidate, and Paul Ryan can get the Republicans to actually do stuff. With Trump in there, there's a chance he'll muck up the Republicans from getting their agendas passed. Then we can have two more years of obstructionism until the Democrats win the House and Senate in 2018 in a landslide.
This. We are in a no-win scenario for at least two years.

I'm wide awake. I thought Americans couldn't possibly be stupid enough to elect Donald Trump but I was completely wrong. Donald Trump's election success proves you were right and Americans have the brains of retarded chimpanzees. Not even Portugal is stupid enough to elect Donald Trump, but the USA was.
This is 2000 all over again.

Portugal is only filled with geniuses. United States is filled with retards.
However I'm impressed: by voting on Donald Trump you guys have proven to be not as retarded as everyone was thinking.
Hillary Clinton was a much worse candidate.

The Simpsons predicted Donald Trump to be the president by now, and ironically they predicted it in the year 2000.

Oh, by all means enjoy it while you can. You voted not only for someone epically incompetent, but a also an obvious sociopath and a pathological liar who told you exactly what you wanted to hear, and you believed that this narcissistic silver spoon millionaire that he will look out for you. You have a yuge surprise coming your way.

There have been 5 different presidents before Trump that had no political experience before being elected.
And America is still the only superpower on the block.

                              Ulysses S. Grant

Hoover was Secretary of Commerce, but since that's appointed, I don't really consider it running for public office like the POTUS.

True, but both appointed. They didn't have to run a public political campaign for either position.
My original response was regarding political experience, not governmental.

That's not exactly a ringing endorsement for presidents with no political experience. Ike was a great president but he's also the polar opposite of Trump in almost every way.
