You mean "In a Lonely Place".
I really liked it and Bogart's performance in it. Saw it for the first time just a few months ago.

        Great movie.
Second-best genre in all of cinema, and in a world where 99% of everything is crap (modified Sturgeon's Law0, it probably has, by far, the best track-record of great movies, pound-for-pound.

i like neo-noir like "Chinatown" but I haven't seen a good noir since. "Night Moves" was ok, but that was a long time ago.

I didn't really care for NIGHT MOVES but the last time I saw it was long ago, and I wouldn't rely on that. I don't care much for designations like "neo-noir" either. There really isn't any way to divide film noir like that; it's just "film noir."
John Huston made THE ASPHALT JUNGLE over 70 years ago, and it has informed pretty much every heist movie made since then–a real landmark. Jacques Tourneur's OUT OF THE PAST is just an incredible piece of work. Nick Ray had made a few of them before he got to IN A LONELY PLACE (his best one); the first, THEY LIVE BY NIGHT, was really great and a few decades ahead of its time (not to be confused with the sh!tty Bogie movie THEY DRIVE BY NIGHT). "Wagon Wheel Joe" Lewis has some of his finest moments in noir; GUN CRAZY, a pair of gunsexuals, for lack of a better word, doing the Doomed Love/Lust thing. Stanley Kubrick made his early movies there. His first, KILLER'S KISS, wasn't very good but had some extraordinary images; his second, THE KILLING, is one of the all-time great noir pictures, both informed by THE ASPHALT JUNGLE and itself becoming an off-the-scale influential heist picture. DOUBLE INDEMNITY, TOUCH OF EVIL, THE BIG SLEEP, DETOUR, D.O.A., THE LADY FROM SHANGHAI, THE BIG HEAT–it's a great, great genre (and all of these are just from that original buster of them in the '40s and '50s).

I'll have to agree. I'd add some Billy Wilder like "The Big Circus" with Kirk Douglas. I like most of the ones you mentioned.
Why do you think noirs died? Writers not thinking of any new ideas? I concede noirs are more formulaic with the femme fatale, etc.

I haven't seen THE BIG CIRCUS but for Wilder, there was also ACE IN THE HOLE, also with Douglas. Great movie.
Noir never really died; it just became a lot less popular for a time. That's just movie trends. Tastes change. There's always, at some point, the new thing that moves in and becomes more popular. Noir pictures were always being made, just less of them. The high-point of their production–by sheer bulk and, more arguably, by the number of quality productions–was the 1990s, not the '40s.

Yeah I just never thought noir would take a backseat for superhero movies or the endless remakes.
Oh and the alternate title was THE BIG CARNIVAL with Kirk. Wonderful movie. Yellow journalism just like today!

Don’t know if it would be many people’s kind of movie, but Cast A Deadly Spell is definitely my favorite of that type. What an awesome cast!

and the strange behavior of Kirk Douglas who is a wimp! And it was his first movie. Good movie.

I agree about Kirk Douglas's character. In the end though, he did muster up the courage to put an end to both miserable people, didn't he?

Well, if you are ever interested in revisiting it, the movie is available here on Filmboards.
You can also watch it on You Tube.
Since you don't remember, I won't spoil it for you.
