Actually Flair was more talented wrestling wise and more of a showman but Hogan actually made wrestling more mainstream and marketable.

Flair IS a wrestler whereas Hogan is a "walking gimmick" with very limited wrestling skills. He owes his enormous success to Stallone, who personally selected him for "Rocky III" and made him a celebrity. Without "Rocky III", Hogan would've been just another rguy in the locker room. Flair didn't have the physique that Hogan had or the opportunities that Hogan had thanks to Vince McMahon's vision back in 1982 to put the WWE as a national promotion with mainstream exposure and larger than life gimmickry. Jim Crockett's NWA didn't have the glitter and exposure that the WWE had. NWA was simply pure wrestling.

Hogan has more charisma and is a better getting people to look his way. Flair is better at making other wrestlers look good while still looking good himself. Hogan was never able to do that. Overall I give the edge to Slic Ric.

You gotta remember we are on the Ric Flair boards. 90% will naturally say Ric Flair. Try asking this question also on the Hogan board.
My personal opinion Hogan is a much bigger legend than Flair. On many levels. Flair is one of the top 10 of all time, but Hogan and Andre are one and two. Flair might and is probably number 3.

Hogan was just about the money. He will come back to Wrestlemania if the
money is right. Flair is about the passion for the business. It is sad
to see him retire from something he really loves.

Hogan has a huge ego problem and really only cared about money most of the time. Ric Flair joined WWE in 2001 and he's stuck around ever since, truly dedicated to his love of the business. When he was in his prime Flair was a much better wrestler than Hogan was too. So Flair was much better than Hogan, in fact Flair may be the greatest wrestler of all-time.

Nah, that's just what smarks who are trying to sound smarter than they are say.
I's like the film nerds who say Citizen Kane sucks. All the experts say otherwise, but the smark always thinks he knows better.

I would have to agree with most of you and say Flair. Besides him in the ring. He seemed to care about the business alot more too. Hogan might of for awhile but he always wanted to come back for a big match and would come if the money was right. I think ric's the type that he dosn't care about the money, he just loves doing it and i think that puts him way above hogan.

that spectacle in the ring proves that flair is so above hogan in terms of class and dignity it isnt even funny. ric flair had the respect of the locker room. hulk hogan never did. i grew up a hogan fan. back in the 80's when there was no internet and you heard virtually nothing about what went on backstage. if you did im sure hulkamania wouldnt have run as wild as it did. now, being he was a top star im sure ric did his share of politicking backstage. all the big guys do. but hulk hogan, throughout his career has done everything to benefit one person and thats hulk hogan. he would never break down in front of a crowd like that because he has to be the immortal one, brother.

The same would apply to alot of guys, like Austin: the man is bitter about everybody and everything, he's pissed of about the Rock's hall of fame speech, he didn't show up at Wrestlemania, he didn't show up at some of his matches, he refused to job for Brock Lesnar etc.
Flair is said to be a dick towards people outside his inner circle, Goldberg is considered by some to be a guy who only did it for the money etc. Warrior was a disaster in the locker room, The Rock gets alot of heat because he left wrestling for movies. I'd really like to know what's true about all that and what's just gossip.
To say that Hogan got no respect from the locker room is exaggerated. Big Show is an example of a guy who respects him alot (maybe because Hogan discoverd him). During the Hogan Hall of Fame speech in 2005, Big Show had tears in his eyes (cfr Flair's speech), plus Hogan was a source of inspiration for alot of the younger wrestlers.
A difference between Flair and Hogan is their characters: Hulkamania Hogan has always been the muscle bomber heroe/good guy that overcame the impossible, Flair never was. Also since Hulkamania started, Hogan has always been the main star or in the very top (drawings, big matches, storylines), Flair wasn't. Let's be honest, when NWO, Goldberg and Sting were running wild in WCW, Flair was definately not a top character anymore. He often seemed to have disappeared. Same with his WWE return. He was more like a manager of Batista and Triple H than a wrestler.
I would say that Flair can be considered one of the very best for his wrestling skills, probably the respect from colleagues and especially his incredible long career.
Hogan has had the biggest impact on wrestling boom and popularity of any wrestler and he has always been on top, both in WWF(E) and WCW for a very long time. He was also very well known in Japan and other continents (Europe), more than any other wrestler.

THen you obviously know squat about wrestling. There's more to performing in wrestling than in the ring. Hogan grew tired of wrestling, because it wasn't his passion. It was his way of income and that's about all it was to him. Ric Flair put 100% of every fiber of his existance in wrestling and climbed more ladders than most perfomers even knew existed, and that was outside the ring. Inside the ring, Ric's perfomance dwarfed Hogans at best, and that isn't just lip service for Flair either. Hogan has been said to be one of the Hardest people to work with in pro wreslting, because of the money he expects. Ric Flair was a difficult man because he refused to compromise in the quality of putting on "MOUNTAIN TOP" perfomances. So where you are entitled to your opinion, I am too, and my opinion is that you are way off.

Flair and its not even close, Hogan may have made more money, but Flair influenced generations of wrestlers and nothing can beat that
