I just saw one running across the road! I've seen regular bobcats, but this looked like a Canadian lynx or something similar. I was driving home and just a few houses away from my driveway when this gorgeous lynx slinked across the street, watching me the entire time! She moved with such grace and purpose. I was close enough to where I saw her face and those tufts of black that stick up on their ears! It was like time slowed down because I stopped the car and just reveled in watching her.
I'm without words, only uttering, "OMG! OMG! OMG! over and over again until I got in the house. She was about the size of a medium-sized dog, so I think she's still a kiddo. All the babies are coming out. The other day I saw a duck crossing the same road with six little ducklings straggling behind her.
OMG, though, that lynx!

They are considered endangered, and the public is encouraged to keep their distance and respect their spaces. They were almost extinct up here, and they're only slowly making a comeback. Where I used to live, yes, we had mountain lions. I could see them from the living room window when they were walking through the forest grounds.
Yes, they would be considered dangerous because they are predators, as opposed to prey animals. I'm going to be extra cautious when I walk the dog. I don't think they would go out of their way to attack a human that's minding their own business, though. Have you seen any mountain lions yourself?

She was so beautiful. I stopped my car to watch her pass, and it really was like watching a nature documentary the way she moved. So graceful. And those black tufts of hair pointing upwards on the tips of her ears! I'm still in such awe.

Definitely! I've never seen one while I was driving before! I was totally not prepared to see such a beautiful animal. We get the deer and the odd moose, but this left me speechless!
