Being anorexic won’t make you happy because your weight has nothing to do with your value or who you are as a person. You may not see it now but you’re focusing on the wrong things about yourself and that is what makes you hate yourself even more.

I understand that since I have gone through similar issues with body image majority of my life and its hard to not to focus so much on looks when society likes to put a lot of importance on it. But self esteem and happiness arent based on beauty or how much you weigh. If you keep thinking this way you will always be struggling with feeling inadequate no matter how skinny you get. I know youre thinking that being skinny will help you love yourself more but it really wont

If you are looking to feel love and gain self confidence and acceptance just remember that being thin doesn't automatically give you that and you can achieve all those things at any weight. Being confident isn't earned by being skinny and we can choose to be confident no matter what we look like

But you yourself are so skinny Monicah. Miley has been medicated her entire life.

I have struggled with weight my whole life and my weight has constantly fluctuated up and down because of all the dieting I did and never feeling satisfied with myself even for the brief moments I did reach being underweight. But I am not underweight like how I know Miley wants to be. Making yourself go through that is not worth it and wont last and it took a huge emotional toll on myself for many years. I never once gained confidence in myself or felt more loved and accepted by people just from being smaller. Thats not where confidence comes from

I understand but imagine being medicated into being fat your entire young adult life. That's what Miley and also I have gone through. I feel like that is where a lot of Miley's frustration comes from. I don't think she will be as skinny as she was when she was a kid but just being normal weight again would do a lot for her self-esteem.

I agree it could help but it all goes down to how that’s achieved and being healthy and having a positive relationship with food will come a long way. Once she stops dieting she will eventually learn her healthy weight range instead of trying to achieve something that is not healthy for her

I honestly don't know if she actually had an eating disorder prior to being diagnosed with a mental illness and being medicated. I think maybe her issues with her weight started after she were medicated and gained a lot of weight. But I agree that being underweight isn't healthy or something anyone should want to achieve.

I don’t want to speak for her but I know the desire to be thin is super common in women mostly because of all the stuff we are exposed to in the media and the societal expectations of being skinny are a huge influence on our self esteem. So many women develop eating disorders because of the unfair and unrealistic beauty standards put on us. But it’s something that we have to realize it’s harming us more than it’s helping us to keep listening to. There can be other factors that contribute to eating disorders but societal expectations don’t help

Well said and I agree with all of it but for me personally I just want to be normal weight again and I believe that deep down Miley wants the same. I think she just exaggerates when says she wants to be super-skinny or underweight because she's been overweight for so long and that's been tough on her.

Maybe that’s true. But I know from what she talks about with all the dieting and starving herself leads to binging later and it takes a toll on her body even more as opposed to eating healthy and not restricting herself from certain foods she feels she can’t have because of her weight. None of us should really be dieting anyway and it’s been proven none of them ever work -

No, she shouldn't be doing it but I think she just gets desperate at times and that's understandable to be quite fair after all she's gone through.

That’s definitely understandable I agree. Its hard to change perspective when things like beauty and thinness are viewed as so high valued like it’s seen as something morally good or it somehow makes you a better and more likable person. I relate to Miley in this regard because it’s something I always obsessed with and I was constantly comparing myself with other women especially celebrities. It took me a long time to get out of that mindset. I still have insecurities but I stopped it from being my main focus. I feel for Miley because I get the never ending cycle she seems to stuck be in. It is really hard to get out of once you’re in it but it’s not impossible
