It works really well, and it's good for your neuromuscular system. I'd have my clients do it who (a) have joint replacements, (b) have any sort of tendon problems, are training for marathons and want to strengthen their knees, ankles and hips for downhill portions of the runs in particular.
I've been incorporating reverse-walking myself, and having my clients do it, for decades, so it's not some weird TikTok trend. It helps with proprioception as well. As I mentioned to you before, it may look peculiar, but give it a go.
