    Lunchtime!
    And here's the article
    everybody
    waited for:
Sausage with German Roots: How the Hot Dog became so Popular
According to a study, a hot dog costs us 36 minutes of a healthy life.
Countless people put up with this every day to not abstain from the delicious taste of the sausage in the bun.
There's an exciting story behind the recipe for success of the fast food classic.
The hot dog is not just about the sausage, but also about rolls, fried onions, ketchup, mustard and pickles - an almost galactic mixture. It had a reason the fast food classic was one of the first foods to be eaten on the moon.
The US astronaut Neil Armstrong had a couple of hot dogs in his luggage when he landed on the moon in 1969.
For NASA, the quick meal was considered a full meal. Today, nutritional science is further.
However, the hot dog is an earthly pleasure for many.
How hot dogs were made from Frankfurter boiled sausages
The name was developed in American usage, but goes back to German roots. Frankfurter boiled sausages once had the nickname "Dachshund" or "Dackel", which was translated as "Dog" in American. It is also very likely that the hot dog itself came from Frankfurt on the Main.
The sausage in a bun experienced its breakthrough in the USA. A young German emigrant from Lower Saxony may have contributed to this. Karl "Charles" Feltman came to New York in 1856 and began selling sausages in buns on the beach at Coney Island in 1867. So successful that he opened his own restaurant a few years later.
Study: A hot dog costs us 36 minutes of a healthy life
Americans in particular still love hot dogs – and they hold the world record for eating hot dogs with Joey Chestnut. The world champion ate 76 at one go. How healthy that is, is another question. According to a study by the University of Michigan, enjoying a hot dog takes up around 36 minutes of a healthy life. Based on this calculation, Joey Chestnut lost a little more than two full days of healthy life time - not counting previous
    'training runs'

    • due to his record performance.
      Joey Chestnut
For the study, an index calculated the net benefits or harms of various foods in minutes of a healthy lifetime. The scientists found that the negative value of the hot dog is mainly due to the harmful value of processed meat, which is what the boiled sausage is made of.
In fact, at around 400 calories apiece, the hot dog isn't a light meal. But meanwhile it's more often available as a vegetarian alternative, for example with soy, but without processed meat. A veggie dog!
Hot dog recipe: The classic with freshly baked rolls
A classic hot dog is pretty easy to make yourself. And with home-baked buns, fast food becomes a special treat.
For 15 rolls, first mix 150 milliliters of milk and 150 milliliters of water and heat slightly. Add a tablespoon of sugar and a packet of dry yeast, mix well and leave to stand for about ten minutes. Then knead an egg, 50 grams of liquid, cooled butter and half a teaspoon of salt as well as 550 grams of flour to form a dough. Let the dough rise for about an hour and shape it into a roll. Cut out 15 equal portions with a knife, shape into long rolls, place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and leave to rise for another 30 minutes. Whisk together an egg yolk and a little milk and brush the buns with it. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes.
Depending on your taste, enjoy it with sausages, pickles, fried onions, ketchup, mustard and remoulade.
      Guten Appetit! ☺

I don’t think that’s true that it costs you 36 min of your life
        You got a point there.
Converted, it costs 72 minutes of your short life.

                Yes, I did…the main parts.
                Mostly frustrating from Devon Price:
Drinking wine doesn’t extend your lifespan either.
                Luckily I prefer beer.
