Aren't Europeans influenced as well? Their view of the USA is carefully skewed by their media.
They are viewing America through a careful controlled liberal filter.
    And
Hello Mr. Jared Kushner. Right on time baby.
Maybe I'm the only one that sees you.

Oh yes I wouldn't deny that we are all open to influence. But the majority of UK papers are right wing so that 'liberal filter' is not as evident as one might think.
I think you'll find things are a little more complicated than that.

/Absolutely. Many Americans in particular, sorry to say, are relatively provincial in their notions of the rest of the world and influenced by theocratic forces at home in their views. The result can be sweeping generalisations and condemnations about one of the major religions which at best seem unsophisticated and unlearned and at worst just racist./
Before even restarting a discussion on this I'm seeing a similarity in both of our corners. You and I might be on opposite sides of this small nuance however we are both influenced by media.
        sweeping generalisations
        are as follows…
"Many Americans are hard core Bible thumping religious zealots"
Which is entirely false. Many of those outside the US have only been programmed by the media to believe this.
It's also how some outsiders are scared to move to the US thinking they'll get shot and that the US is the first place in the world for gun homicide which is entirely untrue.
If fact, we are far from number one.
These surveys show that we are 89th and 20th respectively and way behind of all these fine nations so we must be doing something right.

          Which is entirely false.
It depends on how one defines 'many' and 'Bible thumping religious zealots'. When I think of the latter for instance I imagine I am talking about the extremes of religious fundamentalism. Surveys have shown that the share of fundamentalists is at or near 50 percent in "West South Central" (Texas to Arkansas) and "South Atlantic" (Florida to Maryland), while at 25 percent or below elsewhere in the country, with the low of nine percent in New England. In addition there is the worrying trend of extremism growing within American Christendom.
          https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2021/02/04/qanon-christian-extremism-nationalism-violence-466034
While I would not hasten to tar all religious fundamentalists with the same brush there is undeniably a sizeable minority.
I think you'll find things are a little more complicated than that.

/I would say this but more in day to day life. I don't think many on this board have much life experience of being around Muslims and so are easily swayed by what is in the media./
            Hey there Panda,
Now this may come of a shock to you but we have a huge Muslim population in North Texas, most are based the Richardson (Dallas suburb) area.
I had 3 Muslim neighbors that I knew for many years. They were literally the best people ever. Two of which who were always inviting me out for food or even bringing me home cooked meals. The sweetest people.
My upstairs neighbor was an Ethopian Muslim who could not drink responsibly, loving his Black Label Johnny Walker a little too much. One time he was so wasted he asked me to go and bless his condo because he felt "evil spirits".
So I put on an act and pretended to know some pseudo-Christian-White Magic chants and appeared to be emotionally into it. He was very relieved afterwards and thanked me for my faux exorcism. Funny little guy.
"So why do you hate Muslims, Jason?"
I don't and just like you I can't stand being generalized.
The Muslims here for the most part are amazing, intelligent, hard working, and some of the best people I've been around.
Sure, they do drink even when they shouldn't, and they don't always go to Mosque as they're supposed to. They're much more westernized and even docile.
But they are not the same as
            Islamists
which seem to flood Europe and have caused the trouble they've brought in over there.
Of course I don't believe all of them are like this though.

What are your views on Mohammed? It seems that UK'ers are absolutely terrified to talk sht about about Islam.
Why are you Uk'ers so petrified to denounce Islamic child grooming in the UK?

In other words, there's a lot of hate for Muslims from the people who actually know and live with them.

He seems to think that no one speaks out against Islam but I guarantee that there is a lot of speaking out against Islam.

I know. Any non Muslim that lives amongst Muslims dislikes them. They're incompatible with every other community.

This is not true. I lived in a predominantly Muslim and Gitan neighbourhood for five years and it was the only time I have ever lived somewhere with a thriving community feel where everyone got along. People would sit out in the streets to eat, share what they had, play music together, dance. My first Christmas living there, the Muslim guy who ran the barbershop underneath my apartment gave me a huge plate of couscous. I was accepted instantly and made to feel like part of the community.
My building had three apartments, me on the first floor and above two further apartments. A Muslim guy lived in one and he was the most awesome neighbour you could ever want. He was a dance teacher and my landlady told me he taught her the salsa years go. The other flat had the biggest bratty **** who made living there miserable. She was an entitled French woman who both me and the guy upstairs couldn't stand. I hope for his sake she has since moved out.

I know we disagree sometimes but I think you're definitely one of my favs to talk to on here.
I think that's part of growing a friendship.
                              I
                              should
be visiting Lyon next year. All I have to pay for is my ticket. I'm going with my brotha from another. He has family there and once we get there we don't have to pay for loggings. Just food, or whatever.
He wants to go in DEC2025, something about snow skiing. That's sounds great but I want to go over there sooner.
My coworker is also a travel agent. I want to go Greece beforehand. Maybe next spring or Summer.
Greece is so unbelievably cheap right now.
