2 female employees stabbed at MoMA, suspect may be hiding in museum
A man believed to be a disgruntled former employee stabbed two women who work at the Museum of Modern Art in Midtown Saturday afternoon.
The attack, which unfolded shortly after 4 p.m., sent patrons running for the exits.
Both women were taken to Bellevue Hospital, and their injuries were not life-threatening, sources said.
“I’m going to get hazard pay!” joked a blood-covered woman, as she was led into an ambulance.
The suspect, who is known to police, was believed to be hiding in the museum, senior law enforcement sources said.
The building was evacuated and police are searching for the man, who is believed to be a disgruntled former employee who had been barred from the building.
Dozens of people who had been in the museum when the stabbing took place posted on social media that they were ushered out of the building by security, with no explanation. Some of the posts said police arrived at the scene and ran straight to the coatroom.
Tourist Wendy Keffer, from Austin, Texas was entering the museum with her husband and kids when the mayhem began.
“As we were about to walk inside, we saw hundreds of people running out all at once,” she said. “We heard people saying ‘shooter, shooter, shooter.’”
Unfounded reports that there was a shooting frightened her son, Lane, 12.
“Everyone was yelling ‘shooter, shooter shooter’ so I just covered my head,” the shaken boy said. “It was the scariest moment of my life. I had just gotten into art and I wanted to see the Starry Night, that’s why I came down here.”
“I’m still not over it,” Lane added.
The suspect, a white man, was wearing a dark jacket, blue face mask and sunglasses, police said.
The museum could not be immediately reached for comment.

This will get the NRA and all other gun nuts to be sure to get much easier access to guns so that next time he can get his hands on one and use that instead.

I thought someone might say, "If the employees had guns, they wouldn't have been stabbed."
If the guy had a gun, maybe he would've shot the employees and some of the museum's visitors too, and they might not have survived. -

Did they find and catch him?
I hope they did before he might have done any damage with that knife to any of the paintings.
Which is also the risk of shooting a gun in that place.

Last I heard, they're still looking for him.
This article says the guy stabbed them because they wouldn't let him watch a film!
NYPD investigators say they know who the suspect is: a 60-year-old man and former member of the museum. He's accused of trying to gain access to the museum to see a film but was denied because his membership had been revoked a day earlier for repeat disturbances, officials said at a police press conference.
After the man wasn't allowed past the museum entrance, police said he jumped over the reception desk and stabbed two female employees multiple times. The incident unfolded around 4:15 p.m.
Emergency personnel transported the two victims to Bellevue Hospital where they were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police and fire officials said.
The man was seen on video leaving the building and police know which direction he was fleeing. He's also described by police as a museum regular, someone who staff was familiar with. They also said he was wearing a black jacket and a blue surgical mask.

They arrested him!
His arrest comes as authorities say he intentionally set a hotel room on fire Monday evening. First responders were called to a Best Western on reports of a fire burning in a room on the fifth floor. Cellphone video appears to show police and firefighters responding to that incident, which they now believe was the result of arson.
