Gold grows in Trees ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ Finland's Spruces amaze Researchers
    ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ฎโ€‹
In northern Finland, microbes store the precious metal in an astonishing way:
In spruce needles. A finding that could lead to the discovery of new deposits.
In the needles of Finnish spruces above a gold mine, researchers discovered the precious metal.
    โ€ฆ.
    โ€ฆ.
That plants can absorb metals was known. But how exactly the gold got into the interior of the spruce trees remained a mystery. The research team led by Finnish microbiologist Kaisa Lehosmaa from the University of Oulu found a crucial clue: Bacteria in the needles appear to play a key role in the deposition of the precious metal in the form of small particles, so-called nanoparticles. The microbes could act as tiny biochemists โ€“ converting gold from a dissolved state into solid particles, which the researchers published in a study.
    โ€ฆ.
    โ€ฆ.
The yellow dotted line in a spruce needle shows the boundaries of a bacterial colony, within a particle of gold (white arrow).
    โ€ฆ.
    โ€ฆ.
The findings could lead to further practical applications. Biomineralization โ€” the microbial formation of solid minerals โ€” may also help in the purification of water bodies or the recovery of metals from wastewater. Metals are also found in mosses that grow underwater. If research can decipher how microbes bind metals there, new ways to remove them from the water could be found.
What began with golden spruce needles could thus lead to new, sustainable technologies โ€” in environmental protection as well as in the search for raw materials. And perhaps the spruce, whose needles are studded with invisible precious metals, will even trigger a new gold rush one day.

It would be great if these
    'gold bacteria'
    could clean water! ๐ŸŒŠโ€‹๐ŸŒŠโ€‹๐ŸŒŠโ€‹

                          Not really.
Read the article in my OP, then you might understand that this knowledge could really help to save trees.
                          The last sentence with the

                          was a joke.

i didn't see where the knowledge would help save any trees.
i did see the article present a future way to further exploit those trees though.

it's a well-known survivalist's trick to use part of a tree or a vine to filter water.
and for using trees to prevent excessive dredging; that makes no sense that such a "discovery" would help those trees in any way.

there are bacteria everywhere that "clean" water.
the article is trying to sell you on some sort of environmental engineering so they people who pay for that article can keep polluting. even more freely if you buy into that treatment of symptoms rather than a cure.
and the hunt for gold wouldn't work like you and the article states. if they found a good amount of gold in the trees, they would know where they'd want to dig.
there is no way in any scenario that trees would somehow make it out better than if those ideas were published and the trees were left alone.
you want to believe things are one way, but the world of men works another way.

there are bacteria everywhere that "clean" water.
the article is trying to sell you on some sort of environmental engineering so they people who pay for that article can keep polluting. even more freely if you buy into that treatment of symptoms rather than a cure.
and the hunt for gold wouldn't work like you and the article states. if they found a good amount of gold in the trees, they would know where they'd want to dig.
there is no way in any scenario that trees would somehow make it out better than if those ideas were published and the trees were left alone.
you want to believe things are one way, but the world of men works another way.

if you just leave nature alone, it'll filter everything out on its own. even radioactive materials.
you don't seem to realize when they're just telling you stories to sell you something
