Not a fan of Nolan's Batman hey? I guess we are just two different people!
I'm glad you included (apart from Watchmen) The Incredible Hulk on there - I for one really liked that movie.
My list would have all 3 of Nolan's films, but I guess that's why they call it an opinion. All in all, a good list - sounds like 2014 was a good year for you! -

Thanks, Crimson Giant. I'm not a huge fan of Nolan's Batman, or Nolan in general. He's very thematically oriented, which I like, but I don't care for his execution. He crams too many ideas into his movies, and lacks subtlety. I blame him for Man Of Steel, which I absolutely loathed, more than I do Snyder.
2014 was pretty good for me, movie-wise. Looking forward to Guardians coming out on blu-ray next month

Nolan isn't responsible for Man of Steel. That was snyder?? The studio put his name on that film to make money.
-The Dark Knight
-The Incredibles
-Batman
-X Men Days of Future Past
-X Men
-Watchmen
-The Dark Knight Rises
-X Men 2
-X Men First Class
-Batman Begins -

The avengers is number 2 (!) and before watchmen? (!) Hell no.
Thor 2 number 3?? My god this is the worst superhero movie i have ever seen, no exaggeration, this movie was sooo bad! Even Hell Boy 2 is better
In 6, the amazing spiderman 2?? This movie is also unbearable! So bad.
Iron man in 9? I never understood the hype around iron man but the movie wasn't a total failure so i understand.
After that rant i still have to agree on some, like watchmen obviously, best superhero movie of all time as for me. X-Men first class, i totally agree, awesome movie with such a "badassness" to it, Michael Fassbender just steals the show! Much better than days of future past i think.
I also agree on the incredible hulk, loved the movie for some reason but i'm a bit ashamed of it since i can't really explain it and since it has such a bad reputation. The ending was kinda bad though
The avengers was pretty good too, but doesn't deserve number 2 by a long shot.
Haven't seen guardians yet so i can't judge.
Happy you didn't mention the dark knight rises, this movie was really bad, but i liked Batman begins. Dark Knight isn't bad either but i'm unable to rate it objectively because of all the hype surrounding it, so many fan boys defending it tooth and nail. Loved the grittiness and badassness, yet it seems a bit overrated still and it has a lot to do with Ledger's death i think.
At last, i think they did a good job on the winter soldier, but it is also a bit overrated
My 2 cents anyway
People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs -

- Superman The Movie
- Superman II
- Guardians of The Galaxy
- Spider-Man II
- Watchmen
- Batman
- Hellboy 2
- X2
- The Dark Night
- Spiderman
Outside of Guardians of The Galaxy and the first 2 Spiderman movies, the Marvel stuff has been complete garbage IMO

"Unbreakable".
Makes all the above (save "Watchmen") look like the kids movies they really are.
For all it's professionalism Nolan's trilogy was still mutton dressed as lamb.
If only you could see what I have seen with your eyes. -

This. (except for the Watchmen bit)
I hope they never make a sequel. Everything important is already said, any sequel would probably be action only. -

I think Unbreakable is a brilliant film, adam_jondo. Of course, I don't agree that the movies on my list are all for kids. That's like saying all comic books are for kids. Marvel Comics have always been aimed at the widest market possible, both kids and adults (who haven't lost their sense of wonder). So the movies are going to reflect that.

Unbreakable was enjoyable the first time around. Then I watched it again (twice) can't believe I ever liked it. It's pretty bad. I watched all of Shymalanas films again. The only one that's decent is signs but even that got on my nerves a little.

Sorry you feel that way.
Personally I find "Unbreakable" gains stature with each viewing and that "Signs" is the least successful of Shyamalans opening quartet. Then again I also loved the "Village" but get why "horror/thriller" fans might be underwhelmed by it.
Conversely, I just re-watched Watchmen and it crashed and burned before my eyes.
Don't get me wrong I think Zack Snyder, his cast, and crew worked miracles translating the original graphic novel, but you can't make silk out of a sows ear and in the cold light of hindsight
Alan Moore's original GN is actually a hollow misanthropic slice of epicly packaged pulp with unrealized thematic ambitions way above it's station.
There I said it.
But praise to Snyder for his (misguided) labor of love and in particular
******** SPOILER **********
..his ballsy decision to ditch Moores lazy and ridiculous "Giant Alien Squid" climax and substitute "Dr Manhatten" as earth's pseudo-nemesis, thereby salvaging the narrative threads some much needed substance and integrity.
If only you could see what I have seen with your eyes. -

Dude. That was lazy.
Instead of the glib one liner, how about you highlight some of the Graphic Novels merits.
Could be I failed to plumb Moores hidden depths.
If only you could see what I have seen with your eyes. -

That is quite literally the first time I have ever heard someone talk about the graphic novel like that. It's such a different kind of opinion that it may take some time to process.

I really don't get why people don't like TASM2. It's a masterpiece. The love story is done way better in TASM 1 & 2 than in the Raimi trilogy, and the whole reboot is so much closer to what the comics are.
I guess people just don't like Garfield for whatever reason. But in my opinion he's doing a much better job than McGuire, and Emma Stone can act circles around Kirsten Dunst.
Really, I don't see how a true comics fan could not like either of these movies.

I wouldn't exactly call TASM2 a masterpiece, but it was certainly not the odd man out of the 4 superhero movies this year. It and Interstellar were my most anticipated movies going into 2014, and I enjoyed it much more than X-Men: DOFP (which I also liked).
The only film on your list I absolutely would not include is Thor 2. For me, it's only half of a good movie. And as that half is good, and not great, I can't in good conscience support it, and deem it one of Marvel's lesser efforts. The only one on your list I have not seen is Batman Returns.
For reference, here are my top 15 superhero movies:- Watchmen (in my top 3 of all-time next to Interstellar and The Hobbit trilogy)
- Iron Man 3 (took me a long time to come around to this one)
- The Dark Knight
- Captain America: The First Avenger
- Guardians of the Galaxy
- The Amazing Spider-Man
- The Avengers
- X2: X-Men United
- Superman Returns (never understood the hate for this)
- The Amazing Spider-Man 2
- Batman Begins
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier
- X-Men: First Class
- Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
- Thor
