That's where we're headed here right?

I meanIMO we've been headed there since Oswald was sleeping in Ed's bed while Ed creepily watched him. And based on the 'WTF did I just walk in on?' expression Jim Gordon's face when he stepped into Ed's apartment and found Oswald there singing show tunes, Jim picked up on it, too.

Were they in the comic books? Maybe I read it wrong but I got the impression Penguin was gonna kiss him at first. I've never read the comic books so I'm not sure if either were gay in the comics (or if the show's even following the books)

They weren't gay in the comics, but they were on and off roommates and I think Penguin made Ed the sole beneficiary of his will, so you knowclose friends?
I guess if the characters were created today instead of iin the middle of the last century, there's a possibility that's where they might have gone with it. They certainly wouldn't have conceived them that way back then bc even today the homophobia is crazy.
And yeah, Penguin was 100% about to go in for a kiss. Not sure if Ed was aware that's what was happening, but I'm thinking yes? I haven't decided yet if Ed is seducing lonely Oswald and playing him or if he has genuine feelings, but it's actually an interesting storyline, because I honestly don't know for sure. Ed really is a bit of a sociopath, and Cory is really good at the kind of subtle acting require to pull this kind of con off. -

Personally I'd rather they not make them gay. But if they go this route I'd rather that it be just Ed who is gay. I think it could create a good storyline if Ed becomes obsessed with Oswalt. I also like the idea of Oswalt not reciprocating those feelings and it creating tension between them.

Ed was obsessed with Miss Kringle, or whatever her name wasso, I doubt he's gay. If anything, there seems to be a set-up that Penguin could be gay, what with the mother issues (a cliche, I realize). In the classic comics, neither character was even hinted at as being gay. That was verboten. The closest a comic book villain came to being gay in the 70s was the Joker, but in the Killing Joke, it was made clear he was straightand a father to be.

Well the moment when they were in the room and then held each other seemed very gay. The looks on their faces didn't help. However, I think it is just an alliance. They are the "best of friends" for now, until one of them does the other one in, which is inevitable.
Yeah well, you know thats just like, your opinion man. - The Dude -

They've been wearing each other's pajamas and robesI seriously can't believe that some people on here cannot see the writing on the wall at this point LOL. Like, they're def going to hook up.
People are such babies if they can't handle one kiss between guys. It's not like these two are going to be dry humping against a wall in an 8pm show. Jim Gordon doesn't even get to get his freak on. It's going to be a tongue free kiss and everything else is going to be just as gay as is was on the episode last night - gazing into each other's eyes, etc. it couldn't possibly get gayer! -

It really is a non-factor if Penguin ( or Riddler ) is gay or not. Robin Lord Taylor himself is an homosexual and it doesn't really matter. if anything, I welcome the additional layer to the character Gotham is non-canon anyway.
My take on this is : while Penguin
might
be gay, he's way more emotionally attached to whoever might even care for him. His relationships with his mother, his father, Fish, Butch..every one of them eventually went awry. Either it ended up in tragedy or Penguin ended up betrayed. Riddler is just another person that would give him the slightest of attention for him to hang on.
Riddler is definitely not gay ( the Mrs. Kringle story ) and he's obviously using Penguin for all he's worth in order to pursue his goals, and he will eventually be just another one to stab Penguin in the back. This might be the breaking point for Penguin where he'll stop trying to be "Mommy's Little Boy" and he's going to go all-villain in Gotham, since nobody is worth saving anyway.
The fact that Penguin suddenly ended up mayor overnight is way more stupid as a plot development.
I'm kept in Kumiko's collection. You know she likes it.
