Curtis had a lot more dignity in the comics

I think his costume on Arrow looks amazing but the character bleeech. The male Felicity schtick is terrible.
In the comics, Mr Terrific was the leader of the Justice Society and a formidable hero that Batman respected.
On Arrow, he's comedy relief.

He never said he beat Batman, he had Batman's respect. Curtis bares little resemblance to Michael. Michael is calm, collected, heterosexual, and competent. Curtis may be a competent fighter one day, but he'll always be Felicity with a 'fro.

I was unfamiliar with how the character looked in the comics until I just searched for images of him.
When I saw Curtis in full costume onscreen last night, I thought they were paying tribute to guest star Cody Runnels's wrestling career by painting Curtis's face in a manner reminiscent of Stardust. -

The male Felicity schtick
and
Felicity with a 'fro.
Ah, so I wasn't the only one who thought this.
But hey, when Felicity did it, people found it adorable, and when a Curtis does it, it's obnoxious?
Is it that she's a hawt chick and he's an unforgivable guy, maybe that she's not married and he is, or is it her heteroness vs his gayness? Maybe a little of both? Something else?
I don't understand.
nb: These are not meant to be accusations; I'm asking.Because supporting your thesis is tough, but throwing adjectives is easy. -

If another one eyed Maori with super soldier serum and a raspy voice came along it just wouldn't be original anymore. It would seem like an obvious Slade 2.0
Just because it worked once, doesn't mean it'll work again. Especially when so many people called this about Curtis the moment they revealed his description.

When the show started it was cute, many viewers are over Felicity now because her character has went downhill.
But as to why it's considered obnoxious when Curtis does it, we'll that's easy, we've already seen it once and don't really need to see it again. Personally I don't Curtis at all, but repeating the same thing again is sort of obnoxious -

That wasn't blackface, no more than Oliver in season 1 was greenface, or soldiers camoface.
Technically putting black paint on your face isn't even blackface without the exaggerated lips and "Oh massa ain gon liek dis" voice.
