I'm wondering if we will see a small montage showing where the X-Men went off to only one year later than when the new future took place in DoFP. It strikes me odd that both Wolverine and Professor X both look like hell and the world has changed that much in just a year. Remember, the ending of DoFP took place in the NEW 2023, and the year in this film is supposed to be 2024 What happened to Xavier that made him age that bad, that quick?

I think you mean Fox, not Sony. Also I doubt Magneto would go as far as to trick Wolverine to kill the X-Men. It would be out of character. Magneto may be a villain, but he cares about Professor X and the mutant race. No way he would go that far to screw over members of his own race. Maybe Mister Sinister is capable of doing that, since he isn't a mutant to begin with.

Well, there are websites saying that the year 2024 has been confirmed. Take a look at Comicbook.com.

It is not confirmed. Only listen to direct info from the @wponx instagram, Hugh Jackman or James Mangold the director.

Okay, I've just read somewhere that Caliban will be the one taking care of Charles in this film. If that's the case, then something really bad must have happened to the X-Men. I don't buy that they all just happen to disappear. Like really? Beast, Cyclops, Storm. Not at LEAST one of them can take care of Charles after everything he has done for them? It doesn't make any sense.

In the comics the X-Men jumped into the Siege Perilous to escape the Reavers who were about to kill them all, and the portal erased their memories and sent them to different places around the world, which might explain why Professor Xavier has no (or little) memory of his old life in
Logan
.
I'm sure the movie will change quite a few things from the comics but I'll bet that the X-Men have simply disappeared and only Charles Xavier knows where they went, and he's forgotten because of his Alzheimer's (which could be the effect of the Siege Perilous, or whatever this movie's version of that will/could be).
It is, as you say, hard to believe that the X-Men would abandon their friend and mentor. At any rate, whatever the story may be, they're missing! -
