.Than DC/WB's television's properties? I don't think it's fair to say that. Because television networks like Fox, ABC, NBC, SyFy and the CW rely on television commercials for their revenue, whereas a streaming site like Netflix has
you pay up front for about a month of service, not to mention you get to binge watch an entire season of Luke Cage at a time instead of waiting periodically for new episodes to air over a series of months.

      They are different.
Marvel has lighthearted movies and grimm shows.
DC has grimm movies and lighthearted shows, it keeps everyone happy.
Except for me still waiting for She-hulk show

The exception to the lighthearted rule is, obviously, Arrow didn't start out as a lighthearted show and Fox's Gotham is not a lighthearted show either.

Arrow turned into a soap opera and the less is said about Gotham the better.
I would love to see how it got approved

          • Let's make a tv series set in Gotham!
          • Yay!
          • All the great villains!
          • Double yay!
          • Dark tone!
          • triple yay!
          • No Batman
          • quadri wait what?
            Edit
What I am trying to say is that Batman is prime material for tv show, even rather low budget, no powers, does not need any supernatural threats, give us street level Batman in the tone of year one!

            Arrow
has never really been a lighthearted show. It has its fair share of character deaths and angsty drama. There's a reason the show was constantly compared to Batman for the first 2-3 seasons.
