This looks similar to Enduring Love but going in the opposite direction "in enduring love the characters who witnessed a disaster all spiraled into insanity".

I always wake up scared when I dream that. One time the police cornered me in a patch of woods in my childhood neighborhood "I am grown up in the dream" and I woke up with my heart rate through the roof and I could feel my pulse all over.

that's pretty good
the plane is just a metaphor of course
you can see how patrick tries all these different ways trying to get control over his life, even turning to dark arts.
rather than being taken on a ride, he needs to learn to fly.
instead of searching for meaning through the wreakage, he needs to learn to build, transform and create.
there aren't really any shortcuts to growth. -

That used to happen a lot in my dreams. Not me trying to outrun it, but I'll be looking at a plane, and I kept thinking that plane is about to crash and it would. It's been a while since I had those dreams, but it was like that for years. It had me scared around planes irl.
My bad dreams lately usually involve hostile people hetting angry at me for no reason and then trying to kill me.
