I voted for the show. Seeing it agin on TVLand was a real nostalgia treat. Too bad they took it off. Hope to see the DVD release!

Wow, I hadn't seen this in years! If Warner does plan to release the series on dvd, they'd better do a better job cleaning up the transfers if this teaser is any indication. Question for afficionados: Is that Lyle Waggoner as the Shakespeare-spouting Elder? It's not listed in his credits at IMDb but it sure it sounds like him!

I think it was Adam West doing the voice for all the Elders. I agree if they put the series on DVD they need to do a much better job with the transfer. I was excited to get to see an episode though.

I gave an email to the company and they said while ISIS will be released, no plans for Shazam on DVD yet. It's logical though, my guess is they will release the series when the film comes out in 2008 (in which Michael Grey batter have a cameo!).

Warner Home Video actually has the rights to the series, and has stated that they have no current plans to release it on DVD.

BCI might publish this title, but SHAZAM is a trademark name owned by Detective Comics, as is the character of Captain Marvel.

The tv show was done under license by Filmation, but the series (much like the Star Trek cartoons) was owned by the parent company, in this case, Warner Bros., which owns DC Comics. Warner Home Video has the rights to release the series, but has stated in on-line chats that they have no current plans to release it. If the movie is produced and released (especially if it is a hit) them the Shazam live action series and cartoon would be likely for dvd release.
BCI has the rights to distribute the former Filmation properties, which are controlled by the Navarre Corporation. However, Filmation did not control the series they produced under license, such as: Star Trek, The Archies, Shazam, The New Adventures of Zorro, The Adventures of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, and (probably) Gilligan's Island. The same is true for Marvel Comics, in regards to the licensed properties they produced, like Star Wars, the Micronauts, and Master of Kung Fu. Lucas controls all of the Star Wars material, while Marvel only owns the original characters they created for Micronauts and Master of Kung Fu, such as Bug (Micronauts) and Shang-Chi (MOKF).

I found this page on Amazon linked from IMDB:
                    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JODZ/imdb-adbox/
Does this mean it's coming out sometime or do they do this with all shows?

Amazon provides listings for unreleased shows as a guide for demand for a particular show, regardless of whether or not a studio plans a release. Isis was an original creation, owned by Filmation. The crossovers were possible, since they produced both shows, but they don't own both characters. the recent DC Isis is possible as the charcater was based on an Egyptian god; therefore, in the public domain. They made an homage to the tv character, without making a direct copy.

I'd like to see a box set that contains all 28 episodes of the 70s live action show, the 2 episodes of Isis that guest starred CM, and all 13 cartoons (from the 1980s "Kid Superpower Hour with Shazam"some written by Paul Dini, btw). Toss in audio commentary by Jackson Bostwick and Michael Grey on select episodes, maybe as bonus features, some of Bostwick's home movies on the filming of the show and the Drew Carey episode with CM, and I think that would make any CM fan very happy.

I would say the most likely release scenario is that WB puts it out through their Warner Archives manufacture-on-demand program. My guess would be a release for the live action show and one for the caartoon, though they could just do a complete Shazam release. However, it will be bare bones, without remastering. There just isn't a viable commercial market, bootlegs notwithstanding.

To get back to a former question: it was neither Lyle Waggoner Nor Adam West that voiced the elders in Shazam! the producers themselves (according to an interview with Bostwick)provided the voices of Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury (saved them money by NOT having to pay others to do it.
However it does state in the cast list and his own page that West Voiced Hercules in ONE episode (the final one actually "Out Of Focus") i went back on Youtube (you can watch the entire series on that site) and watched the episode again. can't say it wasn't him but can't be sure it was since he may have done it in a different pitch or tone. (Doesn't Sound Like Him To Me But I Won't State Catagorically It's Not Adam West Either)

I actually rather enjoyed this series (it was the marvel equivalent to Batman Beyond).

I agree. There were some parts of "Spider-Man Unlimited" that needed to be improved like some of the voice acting and some of the dialogue. But on the other hand it was good. I kind of liked Spider-Man's new look in this series not like I didn't like the old traditional costume but still I thought the new costume was cool. I also thought it was sort of like Batman Beyond.
I still wish that Fox Kids didn't cancel this show on a cliffhanger, I hate it when good cartoon action shows get canceled on cliffhangers! I wish Fox Kids would have aired the second season of this show.
