Everytime I watch this I think "Man Doom is bad@$$!". Julian plays sinister so well, and I like how they tied the Silver Surfer's cosmic effects on the planet into Doom being unfrozen, rather than him just coincidentally being unfrozen at the same time Silver Surfer shows up. The Spider-Man movies were guilty of some really unfathomable coincidences that make it hard to suspend my disbelief but that's a whole other subject. Loved getting to see some of Castle Doom, loved how Doom was manipulating everyone to further his own diabolical plan, and LOVED his new costume. I think Doom was the best part of the movie, and I really wanted to see a third film that focused on him as a lead villain. F1 was more about his transition from businessman to super villain, it didn't really deliver the Doom experience. F2 kind of did, but the Surfer and Galactus were the main threats, Doom was more of a wild card. I was hoping F3 would finally give Doom his time to shine, but Hollywood has reboot fever sadly.

Yeah I agree. Got to wonder what Doom's plan was. I mean he got the board right at the end of the world. Then you expect him to make some bargain with Galactis or something, but instead he literally just sort of stands around looking dumb until combo-Torch rolls up and beats him sideways.
He smashed a few buildings, sure. But it would have been nice if he'd scored the board a little sooner and actually did something before it was knocked out of his grasp.
Still, he was great, guy plays a natural bad guy, and I'd love to see him back for part 3.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with johnnyz-2. Doom was a waste of space in this film, though I may be a bit biased because he was given the crappiest, corniest dialogue and I don't think Julian McMahon was a good fit for the role. I was hoping for a break from him in this film with the belief they could always bring him back later. It'd have been nice to have more time focused on the Surfer and Galactus.

To be fair, in the first movie, they do say that Doom just craves power above all else. Maybe that was his whole plan
- Get the board
- Be a god
- ????
- Profit
With the board's power, he could have controlled the entire universe

Rebooting after a good movie like this that left a lot of story arcs open is dumbfounding. I think Doom is the best Marvel villain ever and FF3 should have had the Skrulls in a after credits scene with Galactus attacking their home planet
