Why isn't Michael Ironside Darkseid?

Though it would have been really hard to get him James Earl Jones would have been perfect for Darkseid, his presence is very similar to Vader and Jones' eloquent yet powerful voice would suit Darkseid to a tee.

Man, now that you mention it, James Earl Jones would be fantastically great for a guest voice role in any DC animated feature, i actually wonder why he hasn't been casted in a role by Andrea yet for a DC animated flick, lol!
As Darkseid? hmmmm, if Warners did a New Gods DTV movie. I can possibly imagine somebody of James Earl Jones' calibur and importance to be "Yuga Khan" Darkseid's father (currently imprisoned on the 'Source Wall'), now that would be a master-stroke of voiceover casting! I also think a DTV movie based on Jack Kirby's 'New Gods' is long overdue. Orion not Superman or Wonder Woman, is destined to beat and defeat Darkseid. The only way for that to be realised by the majority of DC fans and consumers of the DC animated films, is to feature an entire 90 minute movie around Kirby's New Gods themselves and truly get to know that unique story rather than have it only feature Darkseid as the bad guy for Earth's heroes to look great combating against him. To have a larger epic story be the focus for a New Gods tale, based around the feud and 'Cold War' between Darkseid of Apokolips and Highfather New Genesis and all of the larger than life characters Jack Kirby created for it!

Andre Braugher was perfect. He sounded evil. Which is something I look fwd in a villain especially one who is threatening to Superman.This is one of the best DC animations I have seen in a long time. I didn't even notice Ironside was Darkside before.

The only constants are Conroy, Clancy Brown and the Amanda Waller voice. The Mark Hamil joker is pretty cool, but I can live with his replament in the Red Hood. Greenwood is good, but he just comes off as a Conroy wanna be. If I'm going to get another actor, I need another voice altogether.

IMO James Earl Jones for Darkseid is a no go. I'm tired of it. When it comes to Ironside, what stood out to me is how he enunciates Supes native name.

Yeah he makes it sounds nasty and dirty. Big kudos to Michael Ironside. -

I'm actually not a huge fan of Ironside's Darkseid. His voice is so distinctive and recognizable that it doesn't sound like Darkseid to me, it sounds like Victor, General Katana or Lt. Radcheck.
Clancy Brown and Mark Hamill are great because they change their voices to suit the characters so much that you'd never pick them from their normal voices. Ironside, just does Ironside.
When I imagine Darkseid's voice in the comics I hear a mixture of Earl Jones' Vader, Hugo Weaving's Megatron and Orson Welles' Unicron.
A deep and booming, yet eloquent and omnipotent voice. -

hey, omoxus, he is the ONLY one on the show that calls him Kal-El. Even Batman calls him Clark, witch i really don't understand cause that is a fake name. Believe it or not, I have a friend who named his son Kal-El, when even i see him, i always bow and show respect, just in case.

P@Chinawhite252
Brainiac addresses him correctly. It is strange that Batamn calls him Clark. Especially since he knows how to speak and/or read Kryptonian. I think Batman just wants to humanize him. Maybe Clark prefers humans to call him that. After all, his parents call him Clark. With Darkseid, I think he just wants to be proper. Darkseid is a godlike being. His experiences are beyond Earth. As of matter of fact, I think he does make reference to his Kryptonian heritage in the Superman series.
Here's something. I had a friend who wanted to call his son Noran Radd. The native name of the Silver Surfer.

Please tell your friend to wake up and don't be so silly!
Look what happens when celebrities or movie stars give their kids a really ignorant and stupid name. Nicolas Cage for example named his kid 'Kal-El' because he's a Superman and comics obsessive, and even wanted to play Superman at one time. Robin Williams also named his kid after the videogame character name; 'Zelda' (series is mainly about 'Link' anyways, lol?). Just because whomever maybe a huge comics fan, doesn't mean they shouldn't have a lack of responsibility be an idiot and name their kid after a fictional character after drinking one too many, did drugs, smoked some weed or is on a sugar/caffine high or something?
Seriously, tell your friend to pick a bloody normal or unique name and don't go naming him 'Noran Radd' when its spelt 'Norrin Radd' anyways. If you give your kid a stupid name, those parents better not be too surprised when they get beatup at school a few short years later! They might very well change their name when they grow up, but they'll go through a lot of unnecessary hell first because of the dumb name their parents gave them!
It worse stil when somebody changes their name to something from their favorite TV character from childhood. For real, isn't there somebody in the Untied States military with the name 'Optimus Prime'!!! Hell, i like the Transformers universe, but thats taking things way too far isn't it!

Stop acting so dense and take correction when it given to you! This isn't a case of to each or her own, i've known this fact for years and here's the proof dummy Go to his imdb page and you'll that one it says clearly
He likes computer and video-games. -
omoxus — 15 years ago(October 05, 2010 01:20 PM)
Dude, what's with the hysterics? What "defense"? Like I said. To each his own. I'm not the kids father. I nor you have the right to tell people who to name their kids.
Secondly. I'm not looking proof of anything. Who cares? I sure don't. Zelda is a real name. Lastly, what's with the name calling? Calm down. Sheesh!

If there's any hysterics fella its cos you not getting it at all?
Why are you getting to defensive when outright you know your point and reply was all wrong to begin with. I said he named his kid after a character in the videogame Zelda, you blew it off acting as if you can't be wrong or anything, so i called you on it, so deal with it! The main point is, you shouldn't have said
to each his own
and simply admitted the fact when i presented it to you. You make yourself look more foolish by dancing around the obvious. Zelda's a real name, so what. Thats a statement not something in line with what was brought up by me in the discussion and i clearly said was also a videogame character, that actor Robin Williams named his child after. YOU DENIED THAT and acted as it if it was completely wrong. But thats the point of fact in the question raised in relation to celebrities naming their kids after fictional characters etc.
You bringing up 'Zelda' as a real name, isn't really a point that takes the original discussion anywhere's? Funny how you say you don't care, yeah they sure all don't, when they know they're wrong and can't admit to it, lol! You care to point it out as a real name previously but suddenly don't care now when i've clearly pointed you to strong evidence of Robin Williams naming his kid after the video game character in question. Wow what denial eh!?
So don't go calling me dude and blow it all off simply cos you not able to see recognise nor realise all of that!

Really, then why can't you simply admit it then. Whats really stopping you from saying something like: "omoxus";
Thanks Superturbo4, gee i didn't know that, thanks for providing me with that link. I didn't know Robin Williams named his kid after 'Zelda' from the videogame.
See no ego, no nothing. Just admit you were informed of something you were originally unawares of beforehand. Yeah, it would've really killed you to say all that and move on now wouldn't it?
I'm going to stop helping you alright, but you aren't going to be o.k. not when you keep lying to yourself!

omoxus, wanted to but didn't. Imagine talking your wife into something like that. Naming the child after a fictional super hero i mean.

@Chinawhite
I'm not expecting any children to name then anything. In my original post I was referring to a friend who wanted to name his child Norran Radd. Then Depputy Droopalong (superturbo4) starts this rant. Telling me to convince my friend not to do it. I'm like, "WTF? It's his call not mine" Hence, "to each his own" and added the caveat that Zelda is an actual name. Then dude goes into ANOTHER tangent/rant providing links about celebs naming their kids, trying to prove to me something that I'm not even disputing. Then telling me to admit that I'm wrong about it. Dude created an arguement. Put me into it. Then asks me to admit I'm wrong about assertions that I never made IN THE FIRST PLACE. It is freekin hilarious! OMG! How did I get wrapped up into this?
