Neither are bad. You just have to dig a little to find the good stuff (or the stuff you're into). Music in particular is in great shape these days, thanks to the internet leveling the playing field and exposing people to countless artists and even entire genres they'd have never been aware of back when they relied on the radio and MTV to curate their music for them.

The music business and music as an art form are separate things. The music business could certainly be doing better, specifically addressing the streaming payment model and breaking up monopolies like iHeartMedia and Live Nation.
But, even so, there are artists selling out arenas today who couldn't have found space on any radio playlist a few decades ago and this is entirely due to the internet.

I'm not sure there are any. I think there are some artists who are universally recognized and some of them have been around for decades at this point, but I'd expect that to be the exception moving forward. Everything will be more niche, which means that you will be able to access more music than ever in line with your specific tastes and are free to ignore the rest.

mainstream music is the worst. but because of the smaller investment, you'll also find better music if you really look for it, since there is more of it. music can be more independent as a result.
movies are a larger investment, so they do need to cater to a larger audience and aren't always total subversive mind-control. however, movies are almost never free of nonsense because of all the cooks in the kitchen.
i'd say mainstream television is almost as bad or worse than modern mainstream music.
Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't.
