IT and remake
The Shining and remake
The Stand and especially remake
Remake of Salem's Lot
11.22.63
All by Stephen King.
I'm not saying that these were horrible movies. I am only saying that in my opinion, the books were so much better.
Most books, no matter who wrote them, are so much better.
A better subject would be, Books that stink compared to their movie adaptations.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

You know I liked that old Stand miniseries. All except that stupid God hand at the end. A lot of the essence of the book was captured in that series. Of course you can never get everything of that is 1200 page monstrosity into film.

Aside from Molly Ringworm as Fran, the 90s miniseries wasn't terrible. I actually thought it was fairly decent.
Yes, I realize that you can't possibly fit a 1200 page book into a film, so in view of the topic of this thread, while the film didn't exactly stink, compared to the book? In my opinion, it wasn't as good as the book.
Same with 11.22.63
While the miniseries wasn't bad, the book was better. In fact, Sadie, a character in that book/movie said the same thing…. 'The book is always better".
