So what your actually saying is, during his stint the production was the worst ever? Pierce was a solid bond in my view, i like all the a5b4ctors that took on the role in a different way, and i (shock horror) actually prefer him to craig, craigs films are better but i think if pierce had the type of scripts mr craig has had he would have been considered in the same light as connery

I agree, PB's main problem, from my view, was the direction of the productions at that point. They had taken the silly factor too far and made RM's offerings seem serious.
The only good movie PB made in the series (or arguably ever), was Golden Eye to me It was the most edgy and fun and lacked a juvinile edge I feel PB's later movies took on, as if they wanted to shift the demo a bit too low for me.
From what I read, GE was supposed to be a TD movie, but he bailed after the odd ball wonder that is LTK. If thats true, which I choose in my fantasy world to believe it is, you can see the edge TD brought to the series in GE. Perhaps that's why I like it.
I just feel TD's part in the series was a low point as it abandonded reality in was that made Moon Raker look sane, and he never seemed physical enough to be bond, who in some ways, should look, or is, a super hero.
I really was one of those people bummed out when TD did not get the part at first, and it makes me sad I feel he is clearly the recipient of the worst movies they made with a dude named Bond in em.

Just because he had1354 the worst scripts except GoldenEye, doesn't mean he was the worst Bond. I would take him over Roger Moore any day of the week for example. Brosnan did a great job and for me personally he will probably be #2 on my list of best Bonds after Connery.

After watching all Bond movies in order from the Bond 50 Blu-ray collection, I've come to the conclusion that Pierce Brosnan is my least favorite Bond. That's not to say he's a bad actor or a bad Bond, I just feel that aside from being arguably the most good-looking Bond, he didn't bring a distinct characteristic to the character that hadn't been established by the other actors.
He lacks Connery's toughness, Lazenby's physical prowest, Moore's paternal charm, Dalton's focus and Craig's emotional intensity and sarcasm.
I think of him as the Hollywood Studio Bond. He's pretty to look at, brings the crowds in, and if you look at his movies, they're kind of a fusion in tone of all Bond films whereas the others focus more on a certain interpretation. Goldeneye feels like a Dalton film along with maybe Tomorrow Never Dies. The World is not enough could've been a Connery film and Die Another Day is definitely in the Roger Moore area.
Also, from rewatching the Brosnan films, he seems to come across as more smug and arrogant than anything else. These are bond qualities, but there's always some type of charm, pain, etc. to go with it. Brosnan is a beautiful shell missing the inner parts of Bond. That's why he seems more or less like the Commodity Bond.
Also, isn't it strange that he never had a story arc in his movies where he really fell in love with a Bond girl? Connery did in From Russia with Love. Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Moore in The Spye Who Loved Me. Dalton in The Living Daylights and Craig in Casino Royale.
The only time Brosnan shared significant screen time was with Hallie Berry in Die Another Day, but not really as a love interest, but as an equal hero, which was strange. I will admit I love the scenes with Brosnan and Sophie Marceau in the World is not Enough. Closest chemistry he's had with any of the Bond girls.

I really agree with a lot of what your saying here. PB just did not make it his own. Just as RM drank scotch and smoked cigars, he choose elements to own as his own and make the character dynamic a bit more fun for us all, to see his take on things.
PB was too cold, and not in a fun TD way, who sometimes I am fully convinced was my top Bond, I just wish we got to see more of him.
Aside from GE, as I said, PB just never had a moment where he was doing anything but being a dick. Him in the back of the BMW with the stupid Nokia driving the car, or just countless lame tie in's, such a Madonna, it just never felt like he was anything but a device for the series.
As well, Sophie and Carlyle really got the shaft, a waste of good talent.
Dont even get me started with the North Korean diamond face nonsense.
As someone else mentioned in this thread, it is not all his fault. PB could have done more, if allowed. We see moments of what could have been in GE, but since that was a TD script, I suppose he did not want to draw too much from it, and move on to something else ASAP, which was more or less LAST ACTION HERO BOND.
To get to one more point, I always thought that Halle Berry being in that one flick, and being more a peer to him than anything else, was based on a failed tie in, even her name was so catchy it was made for her own franchise. I have no proof of this, and have never read anything about it, but I really feel they wanted to do more with her, and perhaps thats why that dynamic was so "off".

My problem with Pierce is that he was too smug as Bond. There is a fine line between arrogant(nailed by connery) and smug, which Brosnan crossed over into and made him completely unlikable for me. GoldenEye is great though. I believe his popularity as bond owes a lot to his good looks more than anything else.

The Bond franchise is still alive due to Brosnan. If it wasn't for GoldenEye, things would have been very different. When he took over, the franchise was at its weakest point and he managed to save it. GoldenEye is by far one of the best Bond films. Now, the rest of the Brosnan films were average. The only bad one was Die Another Day. Brosnan is probably the second best Bond after Connery when it comes to looks mannerisms and performance. Craig is so highly regarded because the films he's in are very good. In Casino Royale he had Mads Mikkelsen, who is an internationally respected actor and Martin Campebell as a director, now in Skyfall he had Bardem who is one of the best in Hollywood and Sam Mendes. That's what people don't see. Craig has all these A-listers around him, something that Brosnan didn't have and that helps a lot. Again,in my opinion, Brosnan was the second best, but the problem is that his movies ( besides GoldenEye, where he had Campbell and Sean Bean ) didn't have good scripts, A-list actors and A-list directors.

That was down to Martin Campbell, who helped save the Bond series again with Casino Royale. Brosnan has little to do with it, as has already been mentioned, Dalton was meant to star.
I do agree though that they just phoned in the scripts during his era, plus the Bond girls were way too famous. It seemed bizarre to have Halle Berry as a Bond girl after she just won an Oscar for Monster's Ball. -

There were a lot of big name actors in PB's tenure They just did not get to shine, as the material was so off I think he might have been too old. Did not look good holding the weapons. Got the wrongs scripts.
I wanted to like him more, but having just watched Tomorrow Never Dies for the first time in a while, well, OUCH.

He's got the look. He plays Bond very well. But I agree, Goldeneye is the only Bond movie by him that I liked. But I REALLY liked it. One of my favorite Bond films. The other ones, not so much. Goldeneye was awesome though.

I really gotta disagree. Worst bond ever is Lazenby. I can't say any other name after that cause I love them all. But Lazenby is a beep imposter. Lucky hippie piece of beep If only Connery starred in OHMSS. Omg

Who cares which actor played the best Bond. Bond isn't even a good character. The franchise is so uninteresting and full of cliches. It's the cheesy paperback mystery series of movies.
The only good Bond movie in the entire history of Bond movies is Casino Royale. Everything else is lame, predictable, and tired.
