Oh yeah, I forgot about Dark Water. She was excellent in it. That movies biggest flaw wasn't the film itself, but the marketing, everyone thought they were going to see a horror film, and it wasn't that. It was really a Japanese horror film remade into a character drama.
They totally botched the promotion for the film, it should have been renamed, had a differently cut trailer, and in interviews they clearly told Jennifer to play up the scary aspects of it, which set the film up to fail by getting the wrong people out to see it.
She hasn't really gotten too many solidly lead roles since that one. Which is a shame as she can really carry a film. -

if you are talking about the scene where she sings at the bar, that's not her real voice, the singers name is anita kelsey, but, there is a version in youtube in wich you can hear jennifer singing on that scene.director Alex Proyas decided to cut the audio and select anit'as voice instead. jennifer's singing is not that bad on the original scene but i rather seeing her as an actreess i guess

The DVD that I have has Jennifer singing, (I think it's the directors cut) and for many other reasons it is by far the better version, they got rid of most of the voice over stuff that was ruining the theatrical version, and added in some scenes, and just all around made the film stronger.
Even though the dubbed singer from the theatrical release is technically a better singer, I like the scenes better with Jennifer's voice because it fits the character and the mood of the scenes and setting better. Jennifer being a talented actress obviously sang it in a way that fit the film, whereas the singer just sang it from the point of view of just singing the song really well.
Dark City is a great film, but also in looking at Jennifer's career is important because it's one of the films where she really starts coming into her own talent wise. -

I kind of like The Heart of Justice. The dialogue and acting is very B-grade but it's great seeing Jennifer Connelly play a villain (even better that she was the only actor who actually gave a good performance).

Yeah, it's a shame she hasn't portrayed a villain more, she'd make a good one. I bet she could be downright terrifying in the right role. -

Yes, I would also say the cut version of PHENOMENA is underrated. People tend to flip when I say I watch the cut version more often.

Yes, she was great in Phenomena. Which in itself is a pretty underrated movie, I think. I love it though, first Argentino movie I ever watched. Even though she was only 15 in that movie, she was already very sexy too.
