    Overrated
    Brian De Palma Carrie
Not a bad movie but It didn't come close to the book
    Underrated
    Carrie 2013
It drives me nuts people consider this a remake. The movie was really good and came closer to the greatness of the book.

I agree, I really like this movie but the whole point of the book is lost.
        Underrated: The Stand
I'm sure people like it but I thought it was amazing, especially the casting.

Saying the Shining is overrated is absolutely ridiculous, what exactly is overrated about it? It has great acting, set design, score, cinematography, it also have so many layers that I can't even think of another movie on its level in that regard except maybe 2001. I can say with almost certainty if King hadn't bashed it (because he's jealous that someone made a film that was better than his source material) none of his fanboys would have a negative thing to say about it. Its completely fine to not like the film but to say its overrated is nonsense. As has been said before out of all the films based on his books he chooses one of the best films of all time made by one of if not the best directors of all time over crap like Carrie, Cujo, The Mist, Silver Bullet just to name a few. Nothing but sour grapes, he didn't like that a Director with a vision didn't want his input so because he felt slighted he goes and cries about it to anyone who will listen to try and save face. He happily excepted the no doubt millions of dollars that he got when he sold the rights so he should shut his mouth about it or he never should of accepted it.

            Overrated: The Shining (Kubrick)
Much like the book, it's still a good story. I just never felt any scares from it. I still watch it about once a year, mind. But Kubrick didn't create a horror film: he made a Black Comedy.
            Underrated: Hearts in Atlantis
It often seems people are most upset because it did not cover the full book. Instead, it only adapted the first and final stories. While the book was Carol's story, the film, much like Low Men in Yellow Coats belonged solely to Bobby. And I'm okay that. It was beautifully shot, had a terrific cast, and is, by far, my favorite King film.

The more that I read about King fanboys and how they hate the film, the less I appreciate anything the man wrote. His fans deserve him. They never deserved a genius like Kubrick.

I find that Dreamcatcher is overrated as it is, it is by far his worst movie. It's probably even worse than 'The Mangler'.
I prefer the book by far, even if it's a bit of a mess characterwise imo.
As for The Shining, the Kubrick version is better than the mini series. For me anyway. I can see that the Kubrick version might not be that pleasing to the book lovers (although The Shining is still my favourite King book), lots of things were altered and there was perhaps too much of a focus on Jack, ignoring Danny and even the hotel itself a bit too much.
Still, I saw that movie as a kid and loved it ever since.
I don't really have overrated or underrated King movies myself.
If I have to give an underrated one, I'ld say that Dolores Claiborne deserves a much higher rating than 7.4, I love that movie although the book gives a lot more details on the backgroun5b4d of Dolores and especially the relationship between her and her employer. Which was brilliant, and lacking in the movie.

Overrated: CHilren of the Corn by far. I hear so many people say it is one of the scariest movies ever. It makes me wonder if they actually watched it. I get the feeling people haven't seen it but think "Stephen King? Creepy kids? Oh yeah, that was great." IT is a horrible, terrible, awful movie.
Underrated: Christine. My favorite adaptation (though Stand By Me is his best adaptation). I love it. Almost everything about it, Alexandra Paul's performance is a little wooden but I can get past that. The FX kick ass, it has one of my favorite scores of any movie ever, and Keith Gordon's performance is one of the best I've ever seen. He plays the nerdy Arnie perfectly and he Christine-ly possessed Arnie just as well. I BELIEVE him in every scene he's in.

I love DC. It has way more depth than Misery and interesting characterizations. And I thought Bates did a much better job with the Dolores character than with Annie Wilkes, who was almost cartoonish.

I agree! Bates's misstep in interpreting Wilkes deters me from wanting to watch
                                  Misery
. This would have also been Rob Reiner's doing too and as much as I love Bates, the only film she won an Oscar for is unfortunately one of her lessor roles for me.
I can't fault Bates in DC.

Vera was a tyrant, but she was shrewd enough to know not to make an enemy out of everybody. She chose Dolores and it was a decisive and instinctual choice she made.
As Dolores said, she still lauded it over her, but she was resilient and tough enough to not take Vera personally or let her get to her. Besides, Dolores knew her job and how to go about it. Even if she did screw up at times, Vera would have likely let these things slide with her.

King is tops when representing his ladies. I have always had that notion.
I often wonder though if his wife Tabitha helps him out here, or if he just has a natural instinct?
Norman! What did you put in my tea?
