Overrated: CHilren of the Corn by far. I hear so many people say it is one of the scariest movies ever. It makes me wonder if they actually watched it. I get the feeling people haven't seen it but think "Stephen King? Creepy kids? Oh yeah, that was great." IT is a horrible, terrible, awful movie.
Underrated: Christine. My favorite adaptation (though Stand By Me is his best adaptation). I love it. Almost everything about it, Alexandra Paul's performance is a little wooden but I can get past that. The FX kick ass, it has one of my favorite scores of any movie ever, and Keith Gordon's performance is one of the best I've ever seen. He plays the nerdy Arnie perfectly and he Christine-ly possessed Arnie just as well. I BELIEVE him in every scene he's in.

I agree, I love Christine and Keith Gordon was perfectly cast

I love DC. It has way more depth than Misery and interesting characterizations. And I thought Bates did a much better job with the Dolores character than with Annie Wilkes, who was almost cartoonish.

I agree! Bates's misstep in interpreting Wilkes deters me from wanting to watch
Misery
. This would have also been Rob Reiner's doing too and as much as I love Bates, the only film she won an Oscar for is unfortunately one of her lessor roles for me.
I can't fault Bates in DC.

I like that Dolores and the rather acidic Vera team up together.
Vera was a tyrant, but she was shrewd enough to know not to make an enemy out of everybody. She chose Dolores and it was a decisive and instinctual choice she made.
As Dolores said, she still lauded it over her, but she was resilient and tough enough to not take Vera personally or let her get to her. Besides, Dolores knew her job and how to go about it. Even if she did screw up at times, Vera would have likely let these things slide with her.
It was like a twisted love story and Selena recognized the bond between the two.

Yeah, I liked that part of it. It was believable and moving. SK does seem to have a knack for writing interesting and compelling female characters.

King is tops when representing his ladies. I have always had that notion.
I often wonder though if his wife Tabitha helps him out here, or if he just has a natural instinct?

Glad to see the mist on here, I usually only see horror fans claiming how great it its. Its so so bad, very intriguing premise that is just absolutely destroyed by terrible CGI and also some really horrible writing and casting choices. Seriously you want "Thomas Jane" to be the lead in your movie? When he was pretending to cry at the very end in the car after doing the stupid deed his acting was so embarrassing "ugggggggggggggggggggggggggh aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ooooooooooooo ugggggggggggggggh" I bet the cast and crew felt a bit embarrassed

I had more problems with the overly-religious woman. And the oscar for over-acting of an overly religious actress goes to The other characters' reactions seemed off too; I mean I know the world is full of as* holes, but they all happened to be in that supermarket. Now really?

Overrated: IT. Utter garbage on every level. So badly made on every level, yet, because people saw it as kids & they were scared, that means it is a classic. Just an abomination.
Underrated: The Shining (mini-series). I think this gets a lot of undeserved flack. Steven Weber gives a great performance I think. It is certainly above the likes of IT, but its treated as if its worse. A lot of the hate comes from the fact Kubrick made the film first. Of course, Kubrick's film is a masterpiece, & by far the superior version, but the mini series is still way better than trash like IT.
