OK
You may not like his movies, this is Totally fair, but
if you could know something about technical things about direction you will see he is
just an AMAZING director,brilliant,aknowleged,legendary.
and that trillions of director after him just
imitate - which is good- or have been inspired by his work, whether they like it or not, tons
of them have studied him.
ed wood (i know it was a joke but just to make it clear) was not a director. It was just a clown bored. He had no craft. He must have definetely been a fun to be with. -

But,
he seems to me to be an erratic director. There are a handful of his films (which are indeed legendary) that I and others watch over and over again, and that's really a remarkable achievement. But then there are others I don't even want to finish watching once.
I have never seen a director with such a checkered output. And yet, of course, any artist would be lucky to work with him.

Robert Altman is one of the least pretentious highly-acclaimed filmmakers there's ever been. He was constantly shrugging off any praise that came in the direction of either his films or himself. You have every right to dislike his movies (although the vast majority of the cinephile world, myself included, will strongly disagree with you), but calling him pretentious is simply an error on your part.

With posts like this one and your equally dumb posts about Bill Maher, its no wonder you quit posting in disgrace after only 9 idiotic comments.
Seriously, not a single post you've written shows any taste or intelligence.
But it does show one thingyou're a Republican. Imagine, a Republican who hates great films/filmmakers. What a co-inkydink!
No it isn't

Kevin Smith takes the cake for sure.
Hoda0nestly, I wonder if Kevin Smith's time has passed. I won't venture to say he made
great
films but he definitely made some
good
films that were thought-provoking and important to the independent film movement of the '90s; of which we still feel positive effects today.
