I've heard that he isn't a nice person, is that true or is someone just misjudging him?

I met him at a Star Trek convention in the late 80's ('88 or '89 I think). He was pretty cool to talk to. I think he was surprised to meet a fan bigger than him (I'm 6'5" & 265lbs)! Very down to earth guy, not stuck up at all.

I met him twice during the 90's, he's a very nice guy (and a little bit of a flirt, too.lol). I had my young nieces with me one of the times I met him and he was very sweet to them. Just a nice, genuine person.

I met him about fifteen or so years ago at a convention. I was about 13 at the time and he was totally cool. He let my buddy and I get a picture with him. I remember most how funny he was, thinking he missed his calling doing stand-up. Anyway, he was really cool to a couple of geeky kids at a convention.

I saw him at a convention when I was about 15. I remember him being a bitI dunno, slightly pompous.
He told one fan who was asking a question during Q&A, "I don't know, sit down!" He said it jokingly and to applause, but it didn't sit too well with me. I also remember my mother told me soon after, "He shouldn't say those kinds of things to people who are paying to see and meet him."
In his defense, however, I don't remember what the fan was asking and I don't remember the context, which may change everything.
Of course, he may have mellowed since because we're talking 1993-94.
When I got his autograph, he signed his autograph and there wasn't much more to it than that. My dad couldn't get a picture, so I went back to shake his hand and take a picture, and he was cool with it. -

I met him in 1995 when I was stationed at NAS Lemore, CA. He was there for several hours standing on a 1ft high platform getting a flight suit made for him. He was going to fly backseat on a FA-18 to one of the carriers. While standing on the platform that made him even taller, he chatted with the sailors and signed autographs. It was a great moral booster and he was really appreciative of our service and for a ride in the worlds greatest strike fighter. He is a really nice man.

it's so cool to get to talk about this. i hung out with him and with jonathan frake in the mid to late '80s. it was at a jazz club called l.a. nicola. frake played the trombone. i remember it fairly vividly because it was so much fun. the dresden room was nearby and al5b4so fun. anyone in hell lay know if that is still there? anyway, dorn and frake could not have been kinder to me or more enjoyable to be around. i was somewhat hot back then but that wasn't it. more an older brother vibe. i had placed a personal ad and they were worried about me, etc.
So glad that handsome man was on Without a Trace and I got to think about him again.

My husband and I met him at a charity event for the James Ellis Foundation at Hofstra University back in 2000. He was very kind and posed for pictures with us and chatted with us for several minutes. He also signed a photo for us that was going to be auctioned off for a different charity. He was very down to earth and extremely gracious with a marvelous sense of humor. Honestly, he came across as a bit of a prankster as well.
