Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Minnie Driver

I don't know how many here have seen the movie "Return to Me" but you should if you haven't. Although I live in the eastern part of the U.S., my mother is from Chicago. I think Minnie had the Chicago accent down better then some of the natives. I know they have coaches on the side but every part of that scene, poorly described below, down to the smallest inflections, just blew me away
So as not to ruin it for anyone, it was the most heart wrenching scene, outside of course what initially happens, in the whole movie, or for that matter, any I have seen from any performer. Minnie played that scene with such nuance and wit, she makes a 55 year old man cry every time he watches it (me!). I wish I could get into it more, but again, I don't want to ruin it for others.

Ok, but Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc is a close SECOND
Jane Fonda at the end Of Klute is third, of course.
Meryl Streep in anything, but especially Sophie's Choice is fourth
But you're right, Minnie Driver outshines them all.
