Despiting being a stay-at-home-mother and wife is only part of the reason why Bridget Fonda doesn't act anymore. From my bloc sorces, she has a life-threatening heart condition in the form of a tiny hole in her heart, about the size of a pinprick, and any stress could be fatal to her. She doesn't even exercise anymore, but is still a vegetarian and tries to keep it under control.
Sad to say, but she may be better off with quiet family life rather than the stress of making movies and TV shows which could put a strain on anyone's heart. Sorry to see her go, but that's life. -

Sounds like a bunch of crap to me. I'm sure it will be deleted soon. -

Unless she developed it recentlyShe made her fair share of physically demanding movies, and with a life threatening heart condition insurance companies won't even let you near the set.

When did she deveop this condition? I'm assuming it was after her last film she did since it was not have made sense for previous insurance companies to put out money on her.

A lot of people are born with this condition. most don't ever have it discovered until something happens. It isn't something that just pop's up in a physical or something. A NHL player for the Pittsburgh Penguins was just diagnosed with it. I assure you his life was quite active until now and he was certainly insured.

Here's an interview from 1993. The condition doesn't have anything to do with her "retirement".
Q: There's a quote of yours which attracted media attention: You said you hated aerobics and political protests. The press felt you were taking a direct jab at Jane.
A: I never said that I hated political protests, but it's true about aerobics.
Q: Is that because you have a hole in your heart?
A: I have a hole in my heart, which is a fairly common heart murmur, but it doesn't stop me from doing 5b4anything. It basically means that I have to take antibiotics when I have my teeth cleaned or any kind of surgery because there's a possibility that the bacteria will lodge itself within that hole. So in that way it's serious, but you only have to be medicated.
Q: How did you find out about it?
A: I have a third heartbeat. It's like boom, boom, shhh. The doctors knew it from the time I was very small. I went to UCLA every four years and had heart tests.
Q: Did that give you a sense of your own fragility?
A: No, because I was always told that it wouldn't stop me from doing anything that I wanted to do.
