Hypothetical question regarding his Last Will & Testament

Of course they were expecting his death given his advanced age. It was just the conflicting information they released upon his death in which they stated that he was in otherwise very good health, clearly showing they were not actually in touch with their father, despite what they were putting out.
I'm still very curious if the clause in Betsy's Will with regards to what should transpire if their deaths were to occur within 90 days of each other. It's such a peculiar thing to put into a contract, especially given that Betsy was probably in her 30s when she wrote that (unless she updated it). I've never read anything like this before. I wonder what, if any, impact this may have.

It should count for something. It seems clear that they didn't leave his children anything, otherwise it would be there in the will.
What I wonder is why? Why all three of them were estranged from him.

I don't think it matters what her will says - it only matters what his said.
Gene left his money to Betsey - but we don't know why and we can never know what they discussed at the time the will was written - we don't know if it was his intention to give his children no money or if they saw leaving it to Betsey as an easier (more tax efficient?) way to eventually pass it on.
But it doesn't matter because she died first and unless there are other contestable clauses the money will now be divided amongst his nearest living relatives - presumably after the government takes a slice.
