When did you start liking Dolly and was it for any special reason?
Myself I've always thought she was kinda cool, but I started liking her when I heard someone in my class say "Doesn't Dolly Parton sing 9 to 5"? So I downloaded it, I really liked it, then I watched videos, listened to more songs and read and watched different interviews. And the more I heard, my interest grew Of course when I found out that she wrote a lot of songs herself I was even happier. Another thing is that she hasn't forgotten where she comes from, she's honest, funny and smart. But I've been a "real" fan since the end of last year, when I saw an interview, I remember watching it: When she walked in to the room with her hair, make-up, high heels and those two big things
it was like, "Oh my God, look at her", but from the moment she started talking she just wrapped me around her finger I was caught. I regret though that I didn't record it I live in Sweden and hopefully I'll find "9 to 5" with Swedish subtitles She certainly is special, and the two songs that I've ever really cried to in my life are written by her ("Me and Little Andy" and "Eagle When She Flies" <- It reminds me of my grandma RIP)so I think that says a lot about her and her talents.
Now it's time for your story guys

I've been a fan of Dolly's since I was about 8 years old, I'm 23 now. I don't remember how I heard about her, I guess from the radio or a Tape/CD someone I knew had. I just liked her music instantly and her movies. My mom reckons I'm a fan of hers because of her (my mom). She says that when she was pregnant with me she went to several Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton concerts, so she figures that's why I became a fan of Dolly's.

I think the first time I noticed her was on a television special in which she was the only performer (it went for about half an hour I think), and she sang some great songs including the Beatles' "Help". This must have been 1975 or '76. I've loved her singing ever since (what is there not to love?). Then in 1982 I was driving from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo & she drove up to a roadhouse where I was having a hamburger! She was so gracious and down-to-earth. She is a truly beautiful person.

I have always loved Dolly and I always will. Don't know when I started and but do know I won't stop
One of my early memories is my mother buying the "In The Good Old Days" album in the early 1970's and "Coat of Many Colors" single with the picture sleeve which surprised me because my mother almost never bought records. I definately played those records more than she did and I started buying records myself when I had a little money! -

I love all sorts of music but I'm more into rock/alternative. There are some country songs that I like but I don't really know anything about any country artists. Dolly Parton is a name that everybody knows but apart from that, I knew nothing of her career other than she's a country singer. I started liking her when I saw her and Shania Twain together in a talk show, I think it might have been Oprah, if not Ellen. Anyway, Shania told the audience of how Dolly Parton was her inspiration and Dolly also talked about her career as a singer and songwriter and I immediately liked her right then and there. I was most touched when she talked about her song "Coat of Many Colors" which happened to be a true story. I knew then that she was very talented, intelligent, and deserves respect and admiration from everyone!!! She's soo genuine and deserves to be where she is right now because she worked hard to get where she is and she has inspired many artists to do the same.

Snap Rain and Tangerines but I heard it back '76 here in the UK in our long hot summer of that year. I was 13 but it stuck with me and has done since and I just like Dolly. My first love musically is soul and disco and there was a serious amount of excellent music of that calibre in that summer but Dolly's Jolene also was around and stuck as I say. I also love 9-5 the song and the film - the film is so funny in an innocent way.

When I first heard her sing, 'I Will Always Love You'- one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard.

When I was a small child a friend of the family was a big fan of Dolly and exposed me to her music. I mistakenly referred to her as "Dolly Madison". Madison was the only other Dolly I had ever heard of at that point.
