First of all, I find Cate attractive and glamorous but not necessarily pretty in the most conventional ways.
There are plenty of beauties out there such as Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, Angelina Jolie and Rachel Weisz?I find them all pretty in their own ways.
Go watch Cate?s interviews on YouTube and you will see how humble, witty, intelligent, gifted and articulate she truly is.
If it's a beauty pageant then Charlize Theron was probably going to win in yesterday?s red carpet by most people's standard but IMO Cate Blanchett is beautiful inside out, she's the perfect combination of talent and look.

      Pretty? Meh.
I think she is the most beautiful woman in Hollywood, bar none. You can keep your bland 'pretty' starlets with their cookie-cutter, generic looks. Give me Cate and her queenly magnificence
      any
day. I definitely don't think that pretty is a word to describe her, she's strikingly beautiful in a very unique way that no one else can replicate. Her eyes are gorgeous, her complexion is flawless (how is she nearly 47 years old??) and she has the best cheekbones I've ever seen. It's why she was so perfectly cast as Galadriel in the LOTR trilogy. In Tolkien's books Galadriel is one of the most beautiful woman in all of Arda, but she's not supposed to be beautiful in a 'oh, that's nice' kind of way, she's beautiful in a way that shows how immensely powerful and regal she is, something that Cate portrayed very well in the movies IMO.
I have such a huge crush on her right now, it's pathetic.

Fair enough. I get that, I really do. High cheekbones make me weak in the knees. And her other features are attractive as well. It's just that her combination of all of her features put together fails for me somehow. I like unusual looks, honest, but just not hers.
But then again, that means more for you, right? Enjoy, my friend!
I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' may be a bit of an old cliche, but it really is true. Like you with Cate, there are plenty of famous women who are praised for their beauty that I look at and either don't get it or feel indifferent. It's also not just her physical appearance that makes her so attractive to a lot of people, like huifen9990 has already mentioned. It's the full package. She's
          crazy
talented, witty, intelligent, supremely confident and she has a great sense of humour. Those things only serve to make her more attractive to me, and many others I imagine.
But then again, that means more for you, right? Enjoy, my friend!
          Too right!

She's not a conventional beauty, as someone previously stated; its that pretty-ugly quality that a lot of models haveshe can be stunning (i.e Blue Jasmine, LOTR, Carol) and also kind of plain and androgynous(I'm not there, Truth).
Actresses who are considered "beautiful" often have a hard time getting complex roles. That said, Cate, as an actressa character actressuses her peculiar looks to her advantage.
The fact that she was able to play a man, Bob Dylan, without prosthetics or much makeup, speaks volumes on just how advantageous her appearance is.

Being unconventional beauty with the ways he carries herself, personality, intelligence make her the whole package in my opinion. I find her mesmerizing.

I'm not trolling. I love her very much.
She is an attractive woman in her own way. But I don't find her traditionally beautiful or pretty.

She was almost cute young, back in the 90s. These days I don't find her face even remotely appealing, but I actually like that she's one of the few female big names in Hollywood who's not sexualised out of existence.

I think she's a great actress but not very attractive, she's alright but I'd put her in the cute category. She's not hot at all.

What idiocy. I've seen Cate Blanchett in person on stage and she's easily the most beautiful and majestic looking woman I've ever seen in the flesh, you just cannot take your eyes off her. 'Cute' is for teen idols, it doesn't describe her at all, she is stunning in a very regal and elegant way.
It makes me laugh that her beauty is even in question, casting directors aren't going to hire an actress who's 'not very attractive' to play the kind of characters that Blanchett has played in her career. She's been the leading lady to actors like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio, all thought of to be the best looking men in Hollywood. She's played femme fatales and women that men have nearly fought to the death over. She played Galadriel for goodness sake, a character who, anyone who knows anything about the source material knows, is supposed to be one of the most beautiful women in the history of Middle Earth.
She might not be your type, but to say she's not very attractive is clearly ridiculous.

Yeah she's a bit on and off.
Loved her as Galadriel though (first film of hers I saw) and thought she was beautiful, and you still see it in some of her other roles.
So depends on what style she goes for but I do sometimes find her stunning (i.e. as Galdriel).

I think that she is a very good actress but not particularly beautiful. She has a patric5b4ian air and depending of the character could look attractive, normal or ugly. She could pass for Toni Collette's sister. She doesn't have the exuberance of Bellucci, Jolie or beauty of Theron or Kidman. She has develop her craft to a very sophisticated level. I like her in a bunch of movies like Notes on a scandal, Elizabeth, Carol and Blue Jasmine, less in Aviator, Babel or Monuments and very little in Hanna, Indiana Jones or Cinderella. I think that her forte is drama, where due to her histrionics she excels.
