Do you think she is pretty, good-looking, stunning, or what?

She's not a conventional beauty, as someone previously stated; its that pretty-ugly quality that a lot of models haveshe can be stunning (i.e Blue Jasmine, LOTR, Carol) and also kind of plain and androgynous(I'm not there, Truth).
Actresses who are considered "beautiful" often have a hard time getting complex roles. That said, Cate, as an actressa character actressuses her peculiar looks to her advantage.
The fact that she was able to play a man, Bob Dylan, without prosthetics or much makeup, speaks volumes on just how advantageous her appearance is. -

She was almost cute young, back in the 90s. These days I don't find her face even remotely appealing, but I actually like that she's one of the few female big names in Hollywood who's not sexualised out of existence.

What idiocy. I've seen Cate Blanchett in person on stage and she's easily the most beautiful and majestic looking woman I've ever seen in the flesh, you just cannot take your eyes off her. 'Cute' is for teen idols, it doesn't describe her at all, she is stunning in a very regal and elegant way.
It makes me laugh that her beauty is even in question, casting directors aren't going to hire an actress who's 'not very attractive' to play the kind of characters that Blanchett has played in her career. She's been the leading lady to actors like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Russell Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio, all thought of to be the best looking men in Hollywood. She's played femme fatales and women that men have nearly fought to the death over. She played Galadriel for goodness sake, a character who, anyone who knows anything about the source material knows, is supposed to be one of the most beautiful women in the history of Middle Earth.
She might not be your type, but to say she's not very attractive is clearly ridiculous. -

Yeah she's a bit on and off.
Loved her as Galadriel though (first film of hers I saw) and thought she was beautiful, and you still see it in some of her other roles.
So depends on what style she goes for but I do sometimes find her stunning (i.e. as Galdriel). -

I think that she is a very good actress but not particularly beautiful. She has a patric5b4ian air and depending of the character could look attractive, normal or ugly. She could pass for Toni Collette's sister. She doesn't have the exuberance of Bellucci, Jolie or beauty of Theron or Kidman. She has develop her craft to a very sophisticated level. I like her in a bunch of movies like Notes on a scandal, Elizabeth, Carol and Blue Jasmine, less in Aviator, Babel or Monuments and very little in Hanna, Indiana Jones or Cinderella. I think that her forte is drama, where due to her histrionics she excels.

Eh, I respect your opinion and everything but there's very little I agree with. I find Cate more beautiful and alluring than all of those actresses you named put together, and I'm certainly not alone. Just search Cate's name on twitter, tumblr or any social media site and that's clearly apparent. Different strokes for different folks.
I do agree though that Cate can play attractive or unattractive and that's part of why I like her so much. She's very unconcerned about playing the 'beautiful' or 'sexy' female character in every project she undertakes, it's the content of the character that interests her and how challenging the role will be for her.
I'm with the previous poster in this thread that said it's one thing to say that she's not your personal cup of tea (to use a very English phrase), but it's quite frankly ridiculous to try and proclaim that she's not actually attractive. She's an incredible actor (the best, if you ask me), but she still probably wouldn't have got to where she is and been offered the kind of roles she has if she wasn't lucky enough to be beautiful too. The Hollywood film industry is a shallow place, always has been, always will be. -

Ditto You said it much better than I could. IMHO, she is stunning, even when she seems exhausted. Her face is like an artist's canvas and I'm certain the makeup ppl. love to paint it. Her silly wit is like no other; i.e. so quick, intelligent, and well-informed on whatever subject she is asked to discuss. Just as an outside observer and respect for her work, it appears that many who have worked with her find it impossible not to fall in love with her.
