It's hard to believe she was 54 when she was in the Wizard of Oz she looked great for her age. She was beautiful!

PetetheSwede, Burke's birthday was August 7th. Since The Wizard of Oz was released on August 25th, 1939 and Burke's 55th birthday was only 2 1/2 weeks prior, that means that all her scenes were shot when she was still 54 years old.

Completely agree. The most shocking revelation to me was Mae West. When I discovered she was born in 1893, before they even had the Model T, I was simply flabbergasted. That means she was well into her 40s when she became famous but no one really thinks of her and remembers her "being old". She must've been 46-47 when she made My Little Chickadee. And then you have modern tarts such as Megan Fox, already having Botox and barely able to legally drink for 2 years.

She was definitely beautiful. And in the 1930's, before botox, retin-a, veneers, and all the high tech things that women (and men) do to keep themselves looking forever young and fit that she would look so elegant and do such a great job is such a testament to real talent and natural beauty.
