When you look up "wooden" in the dictionary, there is a picture of Lois Chiles. My goodness, she almost ruined a decent Bond movie, Moonraker, single-handedly. Every single line was delivered in a monotime. No emotion, no modulation. She didn't have the slightest concept of the acting craft. Terrible"
Dude, it's well known that she's not going to sleep with you. Ever.
So just shut up. -

Lol jmr61Why would anyone even WANT TO sleep with Lois Chiles NOW??
It's not like she still looks the model part she did typecast as a Bond girl in the 70s..:( LOL..;P (but I guess u probably being born in "61" (over 50 years old) would probably go for it..;P -

She was a bit stiff in Moonraker, but you have to remember that many (if not most) Bond girls are not known for their acting skills. She wasn't an actresses really, just a pretty face put in front of the camera. She's beautiful but no worse than Halle Berry or numerous other Bond girls.
Gotta love that name Dr. Goodhead! -

She's a very bland actress but sometimes this lack of emotion or depth fit the characters she played, particularly the rich, beautiful and shallow women in
The Way We Were
and
Death on the Nile
, where she held her own against stalwarts like Bette Davis, Angela Lansbury and Maggie Smith. I don't think a Bette Davis or Katharine Hepburn could have been as effective in those roles.
Actually, Hepburn's roles (
The Philadephia Story
,
Bringing Up Baby
)early in her career were similar to what Chiles did. I'm not saying Chiles is a better actress than Hepburn but she'd naturally fit in to a part like Tracy Lords. -

Her ability is so lacking, its not surprising her background is in modeling. Once she is required to go beyond wearing clothes and smiling, she's outside the area of her expertise.
She's absolutely terrible in Moonraker. The movie flails every scene she is in. Apparently the director cast her because he was sitting next to her in the airplane. She is why you go through a CASTING DIRECTOR when casting parts. -

Statement is not entirely without merit but not entirely true either.
Chiles may not have been Meryl Streep but like many actors, if and when she was in movie with a decent director, she could more than hold her own. An example is "Broadcast News". The director, James L. Brook, could work wonders with actors and he brought out a sly, comic ability in Chiles that was surprisingly strong. Her performance in "Death on the Nile" is pretty bad because the director, John Guillermin, was more of an action director, kind of the Michael Bay of the 70s.
There are actors who rise above bad direction but many others like Chiles who needed the guidance of a sure footed director. I wouldn't just write her off.
