thats what the coens really do. so there's going to be violence and depression in their films. but there would also be:
- shiny and squeaky clean sets (every single film of theirs whether its the bowling place in THE BIG LEBOWSKI or the cafe and toilet in INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS)
- lots of gluttony (FARGO and THE BIG LEBOWSKI)
- there is going to be some alcoholism (white russian in THE BIG LEBOWSKI and scenes in bars in other films)
- shots of beautiful american highways and suburbs (highways in FARGO and INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, suburbs in SERIOUS MAN).
- remarkable actors (nearly every bit player in a coen brothers makes an impact on you. they are all very entertaining).
yes, its all dark. but its a feel good dark. i mean, these guys arent making WEEKEND by goddard or THE PASSION OF ANA by bergman. its all entertaining and beautiful darkness. i love it.
