Well, JD is my favorite actor, but I have not seen all of her work. Ill only list her top three.

1. Notes on a Scandal (one of the best performances in Film, IMO. It might be my favorite, but it often flips with Ellen Burstyn in
   Requiem for a Dream
   or Charlize Theron in
   Monster
   .

1. Notes on a Scandal (Barbara Covett was so creepy)
2. Mrs. Brown (such a wide range of emotions)
3. Iris
4. Shakespeare in Love (only eight minutes, but worthy of the Oscar)
5. The Shipping News
   I would add "As Time Goes By", but the OP requested movies only.
   AndI'm looking forward to seeing her in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

So pleased to see so many people name Notes as their favourite Dench performance.
I would also like to throw in Ladies in Lavender, she was so fragile and vulnerable in that role, yearning for something she could never have. She broke my heart.
So put some spice in my sauce, honey in my tea, an ace up my sleeve and a slinkyplanb
