Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Hulk Hogan

    glemay25 — 16 years ago(January 07, 2010 10:15 AM)

    1. Mic Foley- It is very possible considering the current storylines in TNA
(Hulk either fighting or teaming with Foley). It would interesting to see
If Hogan would wrestle Foley on his hardcore terms- I Quit, Falls Count
Anywhere, Cell ect. Even in a normal match I think these two will have
      great chemistry as wrestling enemies
    2. Ricky Steamboat- I really wish the first babyface vs babyface at Wrestlemania
would have been Hulk vs Steamboat instead of Warrior. Steamboat deserves
some main event against Hogan after his legendary matches with Randy Savage
and Ric Flair. The Dragon should have had a Wrestlemania match with Hulk
and beat him clean for the WWF belt while remaining a face. It would have
a much better match on a technical standpoint instead with Ultimate Warrior
    3. Goldu16d0st- Hogan's specialty has always been gimmicked heels (Sgt. Slaughter,
Kamala, Adrian Adonis and Akheem come to mind). A Goldust/Hogan feud would
      make some very entertaining storylines
    4. Mr.T- Im serious. I always thought it would cause ratings/pay-per-view
skyrocket if Hulk's celebrity friend turned heel on him. T can provide a
good heel persona ( Rocky 3) and is one of the better celebrity wrestlers
    5. Kerry and/or Kevin Von Erich
    6. Bob Backlund- I always thought there should have been some feud between the
two. Hulk took Backlund's place in the title rematch with the Iron Sheik
and the rest is history. It would make perfect sense for Backlund to come
back in the mid/late 80s and turn heel then.
    7. Brusier Brody- Im not sure if they ever met but it would be cool if Vince
Mchaman brought brody into the WWF to challenge Hulk
Also it would be great for Hogan to wrestle Jerry Lawler, Abdullah the Butcher,
Jake Roberts (they had two house show matches before the feud was scrapped)
and Jesse Ventura after Hulkamania was born instead of before

I just realized that I made a mistake. Hogan and Backlund did wrestle when Hulk
was the heel and Backlund the champ.
Still I think that a Hogan vs Bob Backlund feud should have happened after
the birth of Hulkmania because Backlund does have legimiate reason for coming
after Hogan (Hulk took the WWF belt while he was hurt) and there lots of old fans who think that the belt should have stayed with Backlund. Plus His
crazy "Mr.Backlund" persona would make a perfect Hulk arch nemises
      Again pardon my error

I can't think of too many more
        #8 - Superstar Billy Graham
People will often say the dream card of all time would be SCSA vs. Hulk Hogan or Hulk Hogan (80s) vs. Ric Flair (80s), but the one overlooked matchup that many never point too is this one. Basically, it would be one of the greatest heels ever, possibly the most popular of the 70s vs. the most popular faces ever. It think it would be a pretty intense match, if both wrestlers are on their game. I based this on, Superstar being what I would called a more, involved and talented wrestler than say the Ultimate Warrior (who Hogan originally had a great match with). Though, Superstar had some severe injuries as his body started to break down. But the thing that stands out the most is that Hogan originally emulated "Superstar's" gimmick
        #9 - Bruno Sammartino
Another blockbuster card. Though Hogan would probably have to be in his NWO gimmick or be in more of a heel role. I think it would be easier for him to play a heel than a more one-dimensional Sammartino. Again, I don't think some (wrestling) critics give Hogan enough credit for his work. They often point to his Hulkamania gimmick, yet Hogan has re-invented himself more times than alo5b4t of other all-time greatsSammartino being one of htem.
        #9 - Magnum T.A.
#10 - Bret "the Hitman" Hart
They've never had a one on one contest, before. Hard to believe, since both were in the Federation for nearly 10 years, together.
        #11 - Chris Benoit
It might work, especially if Benoit is the heel, he could play a role similar to Paul Orndorff's or even Owen Hart's rivalry to Bret Hart without brother line, more of an overlooked champion vs. one of most renowned champions ever.
It's strange, because he's fought like almost every great Japanese Heavyweight wrestler of the last 30 years (Inoki, Fujinami, Baba, Chosyu, Tenryu, Chono, Muta, Hansen, and etc.)
        #12 - Dusty Rhodes
Don't believe they've wrestled in singles, at least not televised.

I think that Hogan did wrestle Bret Hart in WCW. I do like the Sammartio and
          Graham ideas.
I just thought of this Hogan never fought Owen Hart or Davey Boy Smith. He could
have a great feud with either one of those guys

I thought about the Steamboat and Hogan match, it may not have had as much hype as the Warrior match. Still, it might have been a match for the ages more so than the Hogan and Warrior match. If Hogan could get a halfway decent match from the Warrior, imagine if he had been matched up with Steamboat. I could easily see possibly the best WWF match of the decade almost not question, definitely in the same class with Ramon/Michaels or Michaels/Hart.
Hogan and Hart have wrestled with each other in tag match and in War Games match for the #1 contender, but never in a singles match against one another. I can't think of any right off of hand or program that they wrestled against each other.
              -htrgirl2000
Hogan and Lesnar have already wrestled, and I think more than once.
              You can watch right now.

Ventura was scheduled to begin a long program with Hogan in late 1984, but his health issues ended that. Steamboat was penalized for wanting time off after his big win over Savage at Mania 3. He never regained his momentum in the WWF after that. Had he been more career-minded at that time, we probably would have eventually gotten Steamboat/Hogan, but it still worked out well for Steamboat going to WCW.

Hogan & Hart DID have a one on one match in WCW. Ended in a no contest.

Someone said about Hogan wrestling Kevin or Kerry Von Erich. That would have been nice. But out of the Von Erich's to wrestle Hulk Hogan. I would have picked David Von Erich.
Everyone that worked with David always talked about how David had the "It" factor about him. David had the look and build. David had the ring psychology to tell a story in and out of the ring. David's skills on the mic were perfect.
And rumor had it that Vince McMahon 5b4tried to hire David Von Erich around the same time he hired Hulk Hogan. The plans were to have Hulk and David as his top two stars.

StoneCold Steve Austin. The two biggest wrestling icons of all time. The crowd would have gone insane if these two main evented a wrestlemania
Jake The Snake in the 80s would have also been amazing
