Was he bitter about his sexuality ?

I just read his book that was mostly authored by Sara Davidson. A really interesting read and very, very well written by Ms. Davidson.
There was no hint that he had any thing even near to self-loathing about his sexuality. Nor did she mention that any of the many gay men he had as friends and lovers have any such thing.
It strikes me as somewhat odd that they didn't have some conflicts about it since the attitudes toward homosexuality were way more condemnatory than they are now. But it is good that they didn't hate it or give themselves a lot of grief about it. At least not from what was told in Ms. Davidson's book.

I've never read of any account that Hudson was bitter about his sexuality. I have read many times though that it did bring him the expected anxiety that comes with hiding it, but other than that I think he was quite happy about who he was. Even Montgomery Clift wasn't really ashamed of his sexuality as can be seen in the documentary THE MAKING OF MONTGOMERY CLIFT.
Hudson was nervous about being uncovered, but he did some pretty reckless things that could have exposed him to blackmail. His friends used to comment on how lucky he was that he wasn't exposed. -

I haven't read anything to indicate that Hudson hated being homosexual, but there seem to have been plenty of times when he was frustrated with living a double life. He was contradictory in how he behaved. There were times when he would go out of his way to hide his sexuality and then there were other times when it appeared that he wanted to get caught.
It's almost as if being threatened with blackmail was worth it for some moments of pleasure. -

Even though those in the business knew, it was wrong to ask someone to hide who they are

The Hollywood milieu is one of the most hypocritical institutions around, especially when homosexuality was rife within their industry.
They claim to be liberal thinking, yet at the same time wanted to oppress the image of their stars and be a bunch of phonies, so they could profit off the dense masses, who couldn't fathom the thought of their favorite stars being pole smokers.

What got my goat the worst was how some of the more liberal hippies like mama cass and roman polanski got rich and moved into into benedict,and laurel canyon instead if pumping money into watts's economy.
