Consistently Overlooked

I find it amazing how he can deliver such fabulous performances in hugely succesful movies (Little Miss Sunshine, As Good As It Gets among others) and still be regulated to being recognised as "That guy.. you know. THAT guy. The dad in Little Miss Sunshine." I genuinely think hes one of the most believable actors around today. His portrayl of the gay artist in As Good As it Gets was somewhat ground2000breaking in being a film a gay role that didn't use a gay stereotype as a crutch. Even in Friends, he was utterly convincing in his cameo role as Charlie's ex boyfriend.
I could not agree more! I just posted something to that effect on
The Gift
message board (see link below; the reference to Greg is near the bottom, etc.)
Anyway, in my view he's truly under rated as an actor and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. I think he's a truly, truly gifted actor! If truth be known, he ranks up there on my all time favorite list of actors! I adore him, and thanks for posting this because it needed to be said! (Greg's not only an extremely talented actor, he's also a weal cutie!)

I feel that Greg is the only actor that actually deserved the Oscar for As Good As It Gets. He is always excellent in his rolesmaybe this will be his year.
I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace. -

AGREED.
the only reason hes not in my TOP favorite actors is because hes not always in movies i absolutely LOVEbut every movie he is ini REALLY enjoy.
i mean Little Miss Sunshine was somehow 1 of my favorite movies of that year. maybe even my favorite. yet hes in some movies i dont care for like Stuck on You.
but stilli havent even seen Auto Focusand i love all his other moviesso that movie would prob make me respect him EVEN MORE.
i REALLY REALLY want to see Ghost Town tomorrow, cus i heard its greatobviously not BECAUSE OF HIM ONLYbut im not surprised to see him in a great movie. im sure he atleast helps it A LIL..but hes a huge reason i wana see it.
Flash of GeniusWAS GENIUS. and made me want to see Auto Focus because of his real life character.
im easily seeing that again when its officially releasedand i already paid full price too.
so YESKinnear is overlooked too much, and im sick of it. his agent NEEDS to give him more classic movies like some that hes already been in. his agent and himself prob KNOW how great he can really act. -

He was put next to Meryl but in a comedy. He did show that he can sing and dance as well as make a good comedy all in one movie and it was Stuck On You with Matt Damon. When I first heard he was doing it and saw the trailor I was like oh no.. this isnt going to work. But it was good, funny and testiment of his talent.
I believe he is under rated too and over passed for a lot of things.
I liked him on Talk Soup and everything he has done since.
He pops up all over as a Supporting Role in a lot of movies and like you all I cant seem to get why he hasnt the Star Power of Will Smith. In Baby Mama he played such a believable role I couldnt help but wonder why hasnt he turned this corner who or what is holding him back?
But I will say
Truly a man that can pull off anything he does.. And he does it well.. comedy/drama/action/war.
A great American Actor in my opinion. -

Meryl was herself in Stuck on you. Greg sung Summertime with her on stage.

Was debating with a friend on my film studies course over who the most under-rated actor at the moment was, and he didn't even know who big Greg was until I mentioned Little Miss Sunshine. That says it all for me!

When i saw him on Little Miss Sunshine, I thought "oh that guy" And than i made it a point to watch more of his movies. Than i realized every movie i watched with him in it He was great in each role.
Don't remember the name but the movie about the windshield wiper inventor, that he starred in was such a great film. He moved me to tears!
He really is overrated, but i'm glad to see he's got a lot of fans who feel the same way. -

excellent actor, a sheer joy to watch. He has both the levity and gravity at the same time in his acting, (unlike the brooding of a Daniel Day Lewis who passes off as a supposed genius) something very rare. In what I 've watched him in so far, "as good as it gets", "sunshine" and "nurse betty" he brought this special something to the roles that very, very few modern actors can bring. But this is Hollywood, the home of downright inept actors or golden mediocrities, wink, wink Matt Damon.
