I believe you are correct DeeDeeShe just didn't go under the knife like most stars and I applaud her for thatShe's 52 now and has 3 kids, in book she doesn't look too bad. Especially for a woman who spent a lot of time in the sun. I'd be willing to bet most of the negative posters here are much younger than her.

I'm glad that I'm not alone in noticing this, that English women can be extremely HOT between age 18 and 25, much more so than say, American and Canadian women, but after age 25, they suddenly start experiencing what appears to be accelerated aging. You can the difference at age 30 and after that they really start to age and lose their beauty fastI mean really fas2000t.
I was too scared to publicly talk about this until you initiated it. These days everyone wants to accuse everyone else of being a hater, bigoted, racist, grandma-hater, jew-hater, with absolutely NO proof of any sort. -

I know what you mean about being afraid to say anything these days. I was looking at a movie she was in and clicked on her and came here. Yikes! This wasn't what I was expecting when I saw her pic. I loved her in HBO movie Fortress (I think it was an HBO movie) and thought, wonder what she looks like now and what she has been in recently. She has not aged well. Not all her fault but she almost has a unibrow in the pic: I wish her well but I wish I hadn't seen the pics. Now that's what I'll think of when I think of her.
I'll take your word on the English aging theory. Glad I am not married to an english woman then. At Disney, I have seen some gorgeous English women, but you are right, they were younger. The older ones not so much. Maybe you are onto something. -

To be honest, just judging from the handful of photos here on site, I don't think she looks bad at all. I mean, if she was walking down the street towards you, would you cringe?
She is in her forties, though, and I think the big shock comes when you remember how truly beautiful she was as a young woman. So now she simply looks normal. Happens to all of us. Sigh. -

This woman looks awful because she hasn't taken care of herself. She was a notorious party girl back in the 1980s. Unfortunately, the excessive consumption of liquor and cigarettes ruined her looks. She already looked old and haggard by her early thirties. If you want proof, watch any film she made during the late 80s or early 90s. She looks truly hideous! It's a shame because she was one of the most attractive actresses of her generation: tall, great body and perfect facial features.Sure. Physical beauty fades with age, but Rachel accelerated the process by living a reckless, unhealthy lifestyle.

Take a pill, you guys. She's a 48-year-old mother of three. I think she looks fit and radiant. She probably just isn't hung up on spending tons of time and money on looking perfect forever like the rest of the actresses out there. I just watched the Jeff Bridges/James Woods commentary on the "Against All Odds" DVD and they spoke of her as being dedicated personally and professionally, also of Bryan Brown being supportive of her and that she chose to semi-retire to start a fam. Give her a break.

She had 3 kids, smoked a bit in past and drank a bit, so what do all of us look as good as she once did?
its easy to forget that 90% of actresses in hollywood go under the knife, perhaps this one didn't and therefore looks like everyone else, which is what any actress is anyhow, just like anyone else eat sleep and sh*t!
For whats its worth at 48 she certainly looks better than youre average woman, so quit dissing her! -

~ I find Rachel Ward has age, but she's still pretty
. Especially for her age
. Maybe not as beautiful since the 80's
. I hear Rachel smokes and I know for a fact that smoking makes your skin age faster.

I was a little surprised when I saw some recent pictures of her and an interview on the special feature of The Thorn Birds DVD. She's definitely not the same beautiful Meggie from the Thorn Birds. But then I realized that she really disappeared from the media after the mid 80's. So it's a shock to see her then and now. It wasn't a gradual change for us. But I don't think she's let herself go. She said she wab68nted to become an actress to meet a handsome actor to marry and make babies. She came from money so she didn't need to work. So she met Bryan and pretty well focused on her family after that. I know she's made some appearances but for all she's not living the glamorous Hollywood life. Therefore I think we should just remember how beautiful she was and not worry about how she looks now.

There's a difference though between looking aged and looking like there is a problem. THe pictures of her from the sydney film festival are shocking She looked like she was basically high or drunk.. The pictures from the event can be found at getty images. SHe looked terrible I just wonder if she is ill or something.
